Brisbane - Second Round

Another day of tennis was brought to a close in Brisbane, with the second round of singles matches. First up on the main court was Wes Welker and Alex O'Driscoll. Much to the surprise of the crowd (even though they were backing him), it was O'Driscoll who won the match. The audience for the match was really the deciding factor, as we have seen previously Welker is at the top, and doesn't usually lost to someone rated even as low as 15th, if at all. His place at the top of the rankings is safe for now though, as world #2 Ivan Ryabovol succumbed to the raw power of Heath Davis. Tom Delonge faced his doubles partner Kelvin Fung to create an enjoyable game, much of the time locked in a stalemate due to the pair knowing each other's game and working around that. It was the longest match of the day, not only in games but in time due to the endless deuces arising from some games to take it almost to the three hour mark. Big contender seeds Bruce Force and Reagan Wheelson are both through, both of whom's respective sides of the draw look far easier for them thanks to today's results.
