Copa Claro - Singles, First Round

The Copa Claro is living up to its hype, even on the first day there have been unpredictable results as was earlier forecast. Jumping out of the blocks for one was Samuel Vimes, who provoked a major upset against Ritwick Chowdhuri, ending what was a realistic chance at silverware before it had even began. Despite the result, in all the victor was not the best player on court in this match, looking very shaky at times. Vimes' reputation as not a great server was lived up to as well, but it matters not as he fought back well off serve to defeat the Indian in three sets. He'll go up against Clayton Evans next, who naturally dispached Shane Masters without any problems. All of the other big names in the draw got through with ease apart from Joshua Ritchie, who needed a tiebreak in the second to overcome Haych Bots. The quarters look tasty here though, surely Son v Furball the match of the round.
