Time to give up singles.

 

Brisbane - Singles, First Round

Tom Delonge got his home tournament up and running today, capping the day off with a brilliant comeback to beat Brett Hall. The Australian started off well, but fell victim to some unfortunate line calls twenty minutes in which put his opponent in good stead in the first set. This did not get DeLonge down though, as he continued to put up a strong fight, albeit with no results. Hall grew weary in the second, and after two service games seemed to give in through losing five in a row to put the crowd and the momentum firmly behind DeLonge, which he used to his advantage to power home the win. Aaron O'Neill provided the shock of the round, throwing out third seed Rob Cribb in straight sets. Wins like that really show what a difference a home crowd can make to a player. Though it doesn't help everyone, as youngster Henry Daman crumbled under the pressure to be thrashed by newcomer to the tour Supple Dong. Fifth seed Andrew James didn't have any luck today either, as he was beaten by Kelvin Fung in a less than pleasing fashion for the Celt.
