    Neat. Sim follows player in 1 or 2d, btw?

    2d, but I can't get it to do a 2d display in a single logical equation. Even doing it in 1d will be a 10+ line formula, even if the logic is simple.

    VBA to simplify?

    I love this.

    Should have rankings pretty soon too, spent a while today retrospectively changing the format of old scorecards (adding in starting positions basically). Not too far off.

    If I knew VBA well enough, then there are plenty of things that would be simplified - though, the sim does use VB quite extensively anyway.

    However, using a standard formula will mean it'll fit directly into the commentary dump with no change in process for me, so I'll be leaving it as a stacked =IF( formula with about 20 stacks.

    Yeah - I have to say that it's a damn good idea, and shows the value of bumping threads like this every so often. It's simple, easy to implement and doesn't impact on calculations - so it's a perfect mid-season enhancement.

    EDIT: And great news RE: rankings, though the CricSim fans probably won't see it that way :p

    yes excellent

    I promised myself I'd have it done before I started the Bannerman Shield up again. I did also promise CricSim this week and CricSim you shall get but it may or may not be the expected Week J schedule.

    Excellent news about the rankings, interested to see how it compares players of different positions.

    Now, we have commentary lines like:

    ( 0:00.15: Sharks 0 - 0 Vikings) That brings the ball up to 15 metres in Sharks territory. H--|-----/--0--||-----\-----|--A

    So, this tells you that the ball is half way (ish) between the 22 and the halfway line in the home side's (Sharks') territory. The diagram shows the same as the description.

    H=Home team's dead ball line
    A=Away team's dead ball line
    |=Try line
    /=Home 22
    ||=Half Way
    \=Away 22

    All good?

    Thats excellent

    That's awesome.

    Good job heefeh.

    Can we have it centered and in a different line? That might improve readability, especially since the length of each commentary line would vary. (Hope the center tags work).

    (0:00.15: Sharks 0 - 0 Vikings) That brings the ball up to 15 metres in Sharks territory.

    H--|-----/--0--||-----\-----|--A

    (0:00.30: Sharks 0 - 0 Vikings) That brings the ball up to 15 metres in Vikings territory.

    H--|-----/-----||--0--\-----|--A

    Hmm, maybe centering it isn't necessary, but a different line would be good imo.

    Awesome addition!

    This is possible, but quite a pain for a relatively minor gain.

    What I'll do is run a few games with the new output as is and if there's still an overwhelming desire to see it on a separate line, I'll look to do that.

    It makes a big difference in terms of readability imo. I can see it in the Canes game right now and the "graphic" is split across different lines depending on the length of the commentary line.

    What if I moved it so it was:

    ( 0:56.00: Hurricanes 6 - 3 Gamblers) H--|-----/-----||--0-------|--A The next phase to be played from 14 metres on the Gamblers side of the halfway line.

    Then it'll be the text going over the lines rather than the ball position.

    Yeah that should do the trick.
