I'm currently in the airport and all the Eels players are about to depart. Don't have a fucking clue who any of them are.

    You rude mother sex.

Can add Manly, Canterbury and St. Merge to that list. Think the only guy I may have recognised is DCE.

Don't worry. Nobody else does either.

9's was a massive success imo, was so much better on every level than I thought it would be.

All the new rules were positive without being over the top and I genuinely can't think of a rule that I thought was ridiculous or one that clearly needs to be brought in. They nailed it.

2 sell out crowds, awesome atmosphere. Smashed all the ratings on TV, both on Foxsports & Skysports & merchandise sales were supposedly very strong too.

The style of play was still true to the core fundamentals of Rugby League whilst still providing a free flowing, exciting attack based game.

Only slight negative imo was the handful of clubs who didn't back the concept. The NRL need to work out some sort of middle ground. Clearly the Roosters had a timing issue with the WCC and that will be further exacerbated in the future if clubs have to travel to England + the All Stars game making a return to the pre-season fixtures. Late January sounds like it may be the go in the future. But really need to get coaches like Bellamy, Hasler & Stuart to back the tournament.

Since Origin began 4 decades ago I don't reckon we've seen a concept with as much potential as this.

I'm still of the opinion it doesn't really have to be top flight players to make it viable.

Will it go from city to city or is it going to be in Auckland?

It's called the Auckland Nines by the NRL and has at least a 3 year sponsorship from Dick Smith with probable extension (if this tournaments success is anything to go by). So not going anywhere else for a while.

Zero tackle for dead balls was garbage. Equating it with an error is ridiculous.

Also could've done without the drop-kick conversions.

I like the quick tap though. Always have.

Yeah, not a fan of this tbh.

  15. Lukic L Popovic

Drop kick conversion is good for lols.

  16. Wilson SB Wilson

Drop kick conversions were good, the quick taps not so much. Some were being allowed and some were still being pulled back, can only have that rule if all quick taps are allowed.

  17. Cribbage RG Cribb

Drop kick conversions were a great idea for the Nines because it's all about cramming the ebs and flows of a proper game into eighteen minutes. Absolutely neccessary to have that; I'd honestly rather have no conversations than let the players take them off a tee.

Zero tackle off dead balls is a new NRL rule; it's not a Nines variation as such. If it wasn't part of the new NRL rules it wouldn't have been part of this, so it's a separate debate. I like it personally in general but it's not a Nines issue.

  18. Alec AD Funkotron

Drop kick conversions were too heavily exploited with the try scorer being subbed off right after scoring. They need to fix that because it's funny watching shitty drop goal attempts.

  19. AVA T Delonge

The try scorer had to kick the conversion?

  20. Cribbage RG Cribb

Nah, Alec's been smoking the good stuff again.

    Anyone could take the kick.
