The media severely overrates the popularity of rugby in Auckland.

What I know is from experience going to games in Auckland. Watching an NPC game there vs. Northland - you know the locals aren't into it when Northland fans outnumber the Aucks.

That's a pretty ace squad tbh. A bit more depth in there than 2011. Just lacking a boss at #10. DAVID HOLWELL ANYMOTHERFUCKINGONE???!?!?!??!??!??!

  14. Notsure SM Green

Joe Webber is a top prospect.

  15. Rego RS Hutchinson

Out of that lot (not taking injuries into account and plus it's just a wider training squad) I'd go:

    1. Reggie Goodes
    2. Dane Coles
    3. Jeffery Toomaga-Allen
    4. Jeremy T.hrush (locks is hard, not sure what Filipo is like these days)
    5. Mark Reddish
    6. Scott Fuglistaller
    7. Ardie Savea
    8. Serge Lilo
    9. TJ Perenara (obviously injured)
    10. Fa'atonu Fili
    11. Shaun Treeby (obviously more suited to centre but this works well)
    12. Charlie Ngatai
    13. Tim Bateman
    14. Alapati Leiua
    15. Jason Woodward

    16. Motu Matu'u
    17. Whetu Henry
    18. Ross Filipo (Lua Lokotui honourable mention)
    19. Joe Latta
    20. Frae Wilson (Tomasi Palu)
    21. Lima Sopoaga
    22. Matt Proctor (Ambrose Curtis)

Not bad at all. Actually really exciting. That backline.....dayum.

Don't know why you would play Fili ahead of Sopoaga if they are both fit. Bateman will probably be at first five too.

  17. Somerset SC Somerset

Very strong Wellington line-up there - hoping that we get to see more of Sopoaga after injury put him out of most of Super Rugby.

  18. Rego RS Hutchinson

Still injured I believe. I just put Perenara in the starting 15 because it makes it look that much better :p

But yeah Sopoaga > Fili but may be a different case coming back from injury.

Yeah then I reckon you will have:

    10 Bateman
    12 Ngatai
    13 Treeby

Has Treeby ever played wing before?

  20. Rego RS Hutchinson

Yeah actually prefer that, come to think of it.

If you take Sopoaga's injury out of the equation I'd actually go.....

    10. Sopoaga
    11. Woodward
    12. Ngatai
    13. Bateman
    14. Leiua
    15. Treeby

Treeby at Fullback and Woodward on the wing would be more wise than Treeby on the wing actually.

Bateman adds so much to that backline.
