yeah I know it wouldn't work but personally I don't give 2 shits about those teams at ITM cup level

I'd sooner watch Taranaki Hawkes Bay
    then watch Canterbury Auckland

good to hear KC doing well

hopefully they dont embarrass themselves in their log o' wood clash

  3. Mike ML Martyn

Should know quite a few people playing in it this year.

Apparently, Ross Filipo has signed to play for Wellington.

Fingers crossed for David Holwell to be hauled back out of retirement. Come on Holwell!

Filipo brings back memories. He's a major boost. Especially since the likes of Brad Shields are out injured. In terms of locks however we'll be pretty strong.....Th.rush, Reddish and now Filipo.

So a bit of competition will be good.

Why isn't Beauden Barrett playing - he is stuffed from the Super XV

    Good question.

I think they're making a conscious decision not to play those who had a full Super Rugby campaign in the pre-season Ranfurly challenges. Hoeata, Hayward and Baker all on the bench too.

Super Rugby is tacky money whore mud. It would sell its own mother into slavery without blinking.

The ITM Cup is where its at, even with teams stacked full of money and stolen players due to Super 15 realities. I'd love to see a homegrown Canterbury take the field. They'd get smashed.

The standard would also be perfectly fine if international players were regulars, but with the whole packed schedule and resting thing happening we will never see that era again.

Colin Cooper planned on not having the Super Rugby players back for the 2 shield games and prepared without them.

Basically just giving the younguns a chance.

Oh, I agree completely. ITM Cup is where it's at. Pretty sure there's a few of us on that boat. If you talk to casual rugby watchers, they'll say ITM Cup rugby is crap. Just ignorance imo.

    Advantages Super Rugby
    Higher Standard of play
    Star players on display
No Tasman - who is a waste of space whos own players don't care.

    Advantages ITM Cup
    Closer games
Players play with pride for their hometown
    Closer epic games

The kicker for me is Canterbury who win or nearly win the ITM cup each year because basically they are a Super XV team. They make me cynical about the whole competition. I don't know why really. They can't help it and they aren't doing anything wrong. Just don't like it.

Disadvantages of the Super Money outside Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton and Auckland:

    No one cares.

  19. Hurricane JD Hurricane

Approx populations (pulling these out of my ass so don't challenge plox)

    Wellington 400K
    Christchurch post earthquake 300K
    Dunedin 100K
    Hamilton 120K
    Auckland 1.4M
    Total 2.3 M

Which equals nearly 60% of the population

And about 10% of that Auckland population actually give a shit about rugby. Worst fans ever.
