Hope so. Would be superb for them.

Now that King Country have missed out, anyway.

Wait - I think Gazza is from Tasman - your from Blenheim right? Sorry I just have a thing against them as they seem to be such a spread out province and I always wonder where the centre of their support comes from. Makes it hard to figure them out.

    Seriously, it's not hard.

    Nelson + Blenheim.

Less major population centres in Tasman than there are in Wellington, for example. Or Waikato.

If Tasman actually played decent rugby I wouldn't mind them but their squad always lacks depth. Very, very weak.

    Dem Tasman supporters

Some of the best games of NPC rugby in recent years have involved Tasman turning over one of the 'major' unions. The over-time drop goal to defeat Waikato being a particular highlight. Was cheering that one.

The Turbos beating Canterbury 25-24 back in 2008 stands out for me tbh.

if tasman or HB win the shield will that keep it away from canterbury and waikato?

or do they have home games against them as well?

  8. Rego RS Hutchinson

If Tasman got it, Canterbury couldn't get it. If HB get it, Canterbury could get it.

  9. Roaddogg AJ Izett

    go tasman then

If Tasman win it theres still ways for Canterbury to win the Shield, e.g. Tasman lose to Northland who lose to Canterbury, or if it goes via Southland.

  11. Somerset SC Somerset

That moment was absolutely brilliant. They beat Auckland a couple of years back as well in what was a great underdog victory.

Reckon the best bet is the Naki beating Canterbury tbh.....which I hope they do.

It'll be a killer of a match no doubt.

Yours was 69.6% (would've been 70.4% had you backed the Chiefs for the final which I assume you would've done had you not backed the Sharks in an attempt to pass me). Mine was 72%.

    cheers

oh yeah of course, im just assuming that if it only goes once and not bounces around everywhere.

A few new laws to look out for in the NPC this year:

That 5 second rule will speed the game up dramatically but reckon there's gonna be inconsistency from ref to ref.

Some of those rules are a tad weird but anyway.

  18. Jabba HJ Bots

I like all the new laws, most of them speed the game up dramatically which is needed considering League is at a much better place in terms of constant action in the eyes of their target audience

Watch out for Salesi Manu at the mighty North Harbour. He plays for my club in the Shute Shield and he dominates. Apparently Pocock is filthy cause he squats more than him hahaha.

I would post all the squads but meh cbfed. These are the two teams I care about (obviously playing each other first) Wellington definitely looking strong but we're definitely weakened by the injuries and lack of back up at first five.

    Wellington

Hookers: Dane Coles (Poneke), Motu Matu'u (Oriental-Rongotai)

Props: Reggie Goodes (Poneke), Solomona Sakalia (Marist St Pats), Arden David-Perrot (Marist St Pats), Jeffery Toomaga-Allen (Marist St Pats), Whetu Henry (Oriental-Rongotai)

Locks: Jeremy through (filt0wned because I can't spell, btw)sh (Hutt Old Boys Marist), Mark Reddish (Oriental-Rongotai), Ross Filipo (Petone), Lua Lokotui (Marist St Pats)

Loose forwards: Scott Fuglistaller (Wests Roosters), Serge Lilo (Northern United), Ardie Savea (Oriental-Rongotai), Genesis Mamea (Wainuiomata) Halfbacks: Frae Wilson (Wainuiomata), Kayne Hammington (Upper Hutt)

First five-eighths: Tim Bateman (Old Boys University)

Midfield: Shaun Treeby (Tawa), Ope Peleseuma (Hutt Old Boys Marist), Alapati Leiua (Northern United) Charlie Ngatai (Poneke)

Outside backs: Matt Proctor (Oriental-Rongotai), Jason Woodward (Upper Hutt).

Also included, but injured: TJ Perenara (Northern United), Brad Shields (Petone), Lima Sopoaga (Old Boys University)

All Blacks named in squad: Hosea Gear (Hutt Old Boys Marist), Cory Jane (Upper Hutt), Ma'a Nonu (Oriental-Rongotai), Julian Savea (Oriental-Rongotai), Conrad Smith (Old Boys-University), Victor Vito (Marist St Pat's)

Still a few good players in the Watu, obviously a bit of a dent having Smith and Cruden in the All Blacks. Hopefully they continue to play their exciting style of rugby. It'll be interesting so see how well Nathan George directs the backline.

    Manawatu
