Cripes. Those FC stats make this look a bloody good bowling line-up. Ryder with a superior FC bowling average than Pathan and Jayasuriya not too shabby either. Will be simple to fill the middle order with decent enough players to shore things up batting wise and I have my eyes on a left-field selection to give us cracking team balance.

    All coming together well, really.

  2. Fungus K Fung

    Yep. :D

Looks like a gun bowling attack now with those stats there. And we have batting all the way down to 9.

  3. Fungus K Fung

With the latest addition. Looking good. Just need to fill up the middle order.

    1. Sanath Jayasuriya (Bat: 38.59, Bowl: 32.77)
    2. Heino Kuhn (43.48)
    3. Brad Hodge (48.57)
    4. Jesse Ryder (Bat: 44.37, Bowl: 27.26)
    5.
    6.
    7.
    8. Irfan Pathan (Bat: 29.89, Bowl: 29.92)
    9. Chaminda Vaas (Bat: 25.95, Bowl: 25.02)
    10. Mark Davies (21.31)
    11. Makhaya Ntini (28.56)

    7. Steve Tikolo (Bat 53.59, Bowl 36.98)
    8. Irfan Pathan (Bat: 29.89, Bowl: 29.92)

    10. Mark Davies (21.31)
    11. Makhaya Ntini (28.56)

Big fan of Steve Tikolo. A very astute player and possibly the best batsman produced by a non-test nation. Arguably better than RTD as a bat (arguably), but RTD was produced by South Africa.

Ed Joyce? I suppose you could argue he was developed by England, but he wasn't really.

  6. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

I did think of Joyce. I guess you could argue that he was developed by Middlesex as much as Tikolo was assisted by Border when he was a youngster. Morgan could be a decent call in future years, but to my mind he really wasn't much cop until he started playing in England. Ditto for Kervezee if he actually improves.

  7. Ged GEC King

I was doing research on him just to see what his record was like and I actually thought that it was better. Comes from a hectically large family and two of his brothers and three of his sisters have played for Ireland, from memory.

    1. Sanath Jayasuriya (Bat: 38.59, Bowl: 32.77)
    2. Heino Kuhn (43.48)
    3. Brad Hodge (48.57)
    4. Jesse Ryder (Bat: 44.37, Bowl: 27.26)
    5. Dale Benkenstein (Bat: 46.00, Bowl: 35.77)
    6.
    7. Steve Tikolo (Bat 53.59, Bowl 36.98)
    8. Irfan Pathan (Bat: 29.89, Bowl: 29.92)
    9. Chaminda Vaas (Bat: 25.95, Bowl: 25.02)
    10. Mark Davies (Bat: 11.09, Bowl: 21.31)
    11. Makhaya Ntini (Bat: 9.49, Bowl: 28.56)

A pick I didn't discuss with Fung :ninja: Sorry, lad.

  9. Eds E Ames

Should change your pick to one Fung approves of, imo. <_<

  10. Farny AP Farnsworth

I'd have picked Benkenstein if I had any room in the middle order. That's the top notch Saffas in county cricket pretty much gone now...

Very decent pack of allrounders you have put together. Will be interested to see how Tikolo goes in this, very good FC record but I would be interested to see how much of it is made up of Intercontinental games. Benkenstein is a very handy player who is a top player with his bat alone.

  12. Fungus K Fung

    Haha, looks good. :)

  13. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Tikolo's average is obviously inflated by Intercontinental Cup games, but his ODI record isn't shabby and he is clearly able to cut it at proper international level.

Anyway, if Tikolo's averages are inflated by Intercontinental Cup games, Ryan ten Doeschate's are even more so - as I recall, he scored 3 or 4 consecutive centuries in the Intercontinental and he takes wickets for fun at that level.

  14. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

    Gutted you got Vaas. :p

  15. Fungus K Fung

Expected team is finally filled, although might not be final lineup. Pretty happy overall. :)

    1. Sanath Jayasuriya (Bat: 38.59, Bowl: 32.77)
    2. Heino Kuhn (Bat: 43.48)
    3. Brad Hodge (Bat: 48.57)
    4. Jesse Ryder (Bat: 44.37, Bowl: 27.26)
    5. Dale Benkenstein (Bat: 46.00, Bowl: 35.77)
    6. Peter Fulton (Bat: 43.90)
    7. Steve Tikolo (Bat 53.59, Bowl 36.98)
    8. Irfan Pathan (Bat: 29.89, Bowl: 29.92)
    9. Chaminda Vaas (Bat: 25.95, Bowl: 25.02)
    10. Mark Davies (Bat: 11.09, Bowl: 21.31)
    11. Makhaya Ntini (Bat: 9.49, Bowl: 28.56)

    12. Ramesh Powar (Bat: 28.65, Bowl: 27.81)

  16. nz0003 JR Denton

You've got 4 batsmen who could bat 3 - 4. Jesse Ryder ----> 5 IMO, that's where he has proven himself.

  17. Cribbage RG Cribb

Davies got injured today in real life, but Benkenstein picked up the slack for Durham with 3/10. :p

  18. Julian BJ Taylor

    Powar has to play IMO.

  19. Fungus K Fung

I think we were gonna go with Jayasuriya as the spinning option. Powar instead of Pathan you reckon?

I think we have pretty good balance, so moving things around shouldn't be a problem.

  20. Julian BJ Taylor

Yeah I'd have him ahead of Pathan. Then you still have Vaas, Davies and Ntini, with Ryder and Benkenstein bowling meds if need be as well.
