Given the fact that we're into our 11th season I was thinking that what's going to happen to maintain realism in the game? Can't have everyone playing for 20 seasons etc. I reckon you should make it a choice for players who have played a fair few seasons in the game.
My opinion on the matter is that it's only really the lesser players that want to change in hopes of getting a better player. I, personally, have sort of grown attached to my Cricsim alter ego who has been running around for the last 6 or so years.
I am not really for or against this but IMO if it did happen then people's post counts should be reset if they chose to retire.
Yeh, I think it is a good idea. But the post count should obviously bereset for simming purpose. It keeps active players who have been shit for a while from getting bored and allows players to change role too. Should have a cap on how long players have been around before they can retire imo though
Yeh they would HAVE to start from scratch. Personally I don't think it should be brought in, there's no need.
Well I think post count probably plays a fairly big part in the performance of a player. With that in mind, why would anyone with a high post count want to retire at all?
No to mass retirement IMO. Maybe let some lesser players change their role to one needed in terms of balance. But not even sure about that.
I think the ONLY way this should ever be bought in is if the player has played 15-20 seasons. Even then their post count should be reset, as should their activity. Then I'd be all for it.
Activity is reset at the end of every season anyway. Anyway, as I've said before, eventually we will need to do this, however the logistics of it give me a headache, so I'm not going to think about it until it starts actually becoming a realism problem. 11 seasons isn't too much for any player yet so it's not an issue now.
I can see the appeal of wanting to try and climb the ladder again from scratch. It's like deciding to start over with a new MMO character or new game on a manager game. The thing is here is that a senior player would seriously damaging their team when they do it. If done, it should only be the longest-serving, most respected forumers that have the option.
No more than in real life though. If its announced with enough time for teams to recruit "younger" players to replace them it won't be a problem. If a team has 10 out of the XI who have been around for 15 seasons and half retire at the same time its the fault of the team for letting that happen IMO.
With the likes of Hobbs and Gooch playing FC cricket for nearly 30 years I don't see how we're anywhere near having to worry about this.
If it were to be implemented it would have to be something like the player has to of played a minimum of 10 seasons or something so every man and his dog aren't retiring.
