Gonna be honest, am a fan of the Rainbow Donkehs as a name for the team still. Understand the principle for bringing the Gamblors into the sim and the reasons (for which I admire Heef, thinking very wisely about the effect it'd have on other teams etc. who would come to the sim as a newbie and so on) but I still think it'd be nice if they'd chosen a different name since SR seems to be Cricsim's only big-ish sim to have non-Cricsim teams in. Interested to see who they pull in however.
I made the best Rainbow Donkeh Bannerman shield bid to Cribb once when trying to expand the franchise, wrote up a deadly page and everything but the kent smashed my cheeks and told me no.
Not sure if I like the Gamblers getting this 5th team. Risky decision, but the potential benefits are pretty good, so it's well worth the risk if it comes off. I'm just not sure if I'd have made the same decision myself.
Has a high potential to fail. Limited knowledge of RU, members who have made a verbal commitment to join the sim for the team but haven't had the interest to sign up yet, an already somewhat inactive member base, similar subbies. Don't get me wrong, I hope you succeed, good luck to ya, but I just wouldn't have made the same decision myself.
I have the RU knowledge, TBH. I just never liked the original sim, and never had a reason to give it another chance once heef took over. Gamblers have given me that reason.
Heef has already said your club would have taken the three best players from another, already struggling, club. Hughes has little knowledge of rugby, something he has acknowledged. I also don't know who would join; chances are either that club would struggle to get any members, or they're going to recruit from mainly the Sharks. The Gamblers, on the other hand, will encourage people who were not already interested in the sim to start following it. Recruitment should not be an issue as far as the other teams are concerned. They might lose one or two players, but a large part of the new club should come from new/inactive sign ups. I'm really not trying to put down the other two bids here (and my objections to Seahawks was just because of the dire shit Hughesy was saying about the Gamblers), but for the good of the sim, I think Heef made the correct decision.
Vikings would have survived. Darts and Bots would have came into the run on side and the Spartans would have been split up slightly, bettering the comp.
