It's in the same category as Ramos for me atm. Too good to believe it could possibly happen, so not going to get my hopes up while secretly desperate for it to happen

Can someone explain why Monaco continually loan out Falcao? Couldn't they have him scoring goals for them, or sell him off to raise money for a signing? Seems bizarre to me.

    Saido Berahino - Spurs
    Adebayor - Villa

Paper talk at the mo but needs to happen.

Thinking this myself the other day

Because they don't want to pay his wages and nobody wants to take him permanently.

Yeah Monaco are one of those sides that got a rich owner a few years ago, but he basically went somewhat broke a year or so ago, which meant they changed their plan from galaticos to youngsters etc. Falcao hasn't been good since his injury, or even since he joined Monaco really, so no one is really prepared to fork out the money needed to buy him. So he gets loaned to rich as fuck clubs like Chelsea and Man United who don't even care if they have someone on 300k a week stinking up the bench.

Reckon his agent must love the whole moving every summer thing as well.

Doesn't help he's on ridiculous wages and gets to keep it all in Monaco due to the lack of tax, so wont take a cut going elsewhere as his net is already a huge reduction anyway

when does his monaco contract run out??

  9. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Its funny how LvG mentions that one player we are looking at is "a surprise" and now according to the papers we're about to sign Bale or Ronaldo again

  10. cpr CP Raftery

TBH our surprise signings have tended to be guff like Djemba-Djemba, Klebersen and Tiabi.

  11. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

I think they've taken it out of context anyway. It came when he said we might just start the season with Rooney, Wilson and Hernandez and Depay as emergency cover and then maybe another surprise. To me that means someone we don't have rather than someone noones expecting us to get. Might just be me thoguh

  12. Riddy JH Ridd

keeping hernandez seems like a surprise. thought he was off to usa!

  13. Droos JP Rhodes

    AWTA.

Sad that Berahino will be wasted by sitting on the bench, unless Kane gets injured of course. He still needs to develop and that means he needs game time which he will only get if he stays where he is or moves to a similar sized club where he'd be number 1. Adebayor is a good move for Villa seeing as they will most probably be losing Benteke and have already lost Bent and Weimann.

    Other transfer comments:

    - Delph's move to City to me was quite a surprise. Good for the player, but a big WHY for the club? He is a DM and has to compete with Toure, Fernan's x 2 and maybe De Bruyne or Pogba, unless another one of those we have are leaving. I can understand they want to replace Lampard, but Delph wasn't the answer, not so soon in the transfer window anyway with the chance for De Bruyne and Pogba still there.
    - Spurs made a good signing in Toby Alderweireld. They desperately needed a good centre back and he was a good pick up.
    - Marco van Ginkel on loan at Stoke might prove a good move for them seeing as they needed some spark in the midfield and he might just provide that. Same applies to the move of Deulofeu to Everton.

  14. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

LvG has specifically said he'll give him a chance. I think it's a great move to keep him now that he'll be back to the 2nd striker

Just ftr, this has changed, effective immediately I think. Think a court somewhere decided the €50mill payment they made to the French FA to stop them from limiting their wages or some shit wasn't a fair deal. Unsurprisingly. Think it's been immediately put in place, but I'm not sure.

  16. loganb JEM Logan

I'm certain I'd read last week that a court had ruled they can't do it anymore but I can't seem to find where I read it. I'll keep looking.

Yeah, saw that too, still applies to Falcao's logic over the last year and this one though.

Might actually make it worse for the club, as the players won't want to lose too much of whats going in their pockets, so will want higher gross pay. The fact they were on extortionate gross pay because the club could afford it knowing they didn't have their own tax bill to worry about either will be forgot by the players/agents

  19. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

It was definitely a big part of the appeal to go there

  20. Uppercut CB Faldo

I don't get why France or Italy don't just invade Monaco, take all their money and start taxing their citizens. Europe's gone soft.
