There's literally no good young strikers on the market. Paying £50m for one is overpaying but they're at a premium at the moment.

I'd probably take it if Arsenal could get him for that.

They'd probably get just as much for him in a year though, so it makes sense to take another season of him.

That's a huge risk though, and those at the top of Spurs will know that. If he comes back next season and scores 10 goals or less, he'll lose £20m in value, surely? They don't need to sell him, but if someone comes in with £50mill, I'd be amazed if they said no.

Nah fuck that. Complete waste of £50m, doesn't fit into Arsenal's system.

Wrongly used as in 'on the pitch' IMO.

I reckon he's well-rounded enough to fit into almost any system. I think we're all at least half-expecting him to be found out next season, but his game last season didn't have any particular weaknesses. His pressing was especially impressive, which makes me think he'd fit in at the big clubs quite well.

I don't know about being found out, but I do feel £50m is a lot for someone who's not proven beyond 3/4 of a season. Remember everyone (bar me....) scoffing at £35m for Andy Carroll after showing a flash of form....

I could understand a club in need of English players paying such a premium, but we don't need to worry about that ourselves. Ideally we need an older, more experienced player leading the line than Kane (God knows Rooney can't be trusted to do it), if Benzema is available like the rumours suggest, he'd be a better move, and a damn sight cheaper too...

Benzema doesn't have the pace/power/energy we need. He's an excellent player but I wouldn't be pleased with that signing at all. It would just be another step in our recent strategy of signing the player with the highest FIFA-rating, with zero consideration of how they might fit into a coherent system.

On a related note, why is there always a general assumption that RM will let Benzema go? It's been there for the last 3 summers, despite the fact that he's often been one of their best players and they have no obvious replacement for him. I know they parted with Di Maria in similar circumstances, but only for £10-20m more than he was worth.

Reports are suggesting Ronaldo is going to be moulded into a more traditional number 9 which leaves Benzema as more of a reserve striker if they play the same system

I don't see how that realy benefits. Ronaldo is already pretty much their nine he just plays wide. It's not like he's failing to tap into his scoring potential. Only was Benzema leaves is if Rafa's not a fan and they make their big signing a striker. Ronaldo and Jesse isn't enough.

Tevez off to Argentina this summer it seems.

Mandzukic on the cards to come to Juve, not sure i like the idea of bringing him in while we still have Morata AND Llorente.

Dybala will be Tevez replacement essentially.

  13. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Mandzukic is better than both imo

Mandzukic is great in the right system. Scored so many for Bayern in Pep's first year.

Mandzukic set to sign. Had his medical today.

Tévez is so gun, surely they'd do anything to keep him?

  17. MightyPies DA Alessi

The go home factor is too big to try and keep him. He was going to go back to Argentina before we snapped him up

  18. cpr CP Raftery

Don't belive the 'go home' factor, he's been saying he'll do it for years, but one more big signing on cheque appears. He's just a mercenary really. Great player, shite all loyalty to a club. He'll be out of Boca in 2 years to try his hand elsewhere.

  19. Teacups CJ Evans

Liverpool sign Firmino. Huge signing. Big fan of him.

Thoughts on the rumblings of a Cech signing?
