Still better than the Guinness Premiership/Heineken Cup.

I'd just about agree with you on that though, English rugby is pretty fucking terrible compared to the Southerns rugby competition, the same applies to League aswell, Super League is so fucking shit to watch compared to the NRL.

  4. Verigoat S Verigotta

    at killerz actually agreeing

    ITM is fucking shite

Tigers have beaten South Africa ffs

  6. the_killerz S Bakkum

    Its SA though :troll:

    How is that funny mate?

The ITM cup is one of the most prestigious tournaments out there. Period!

  7. Verigoat S Verigotta

    Its really not

English league is better, French league is better, Irish league is better

Looking at some of the play that goes on I think our 2nd tier might be better tbh

 You guys are seriously delusional if you think that. Anyway this is not about fucking league but about Super Rugby.

Whats everyones thoughts on the standings they think will happen?

  9. Verigoat S Verigotta

Im not talking about Rugby League

Im talking about our fucking union Leagues

and honest to god you're just making kiwis sound stupid if you think your shit tier rugby is better than our European top tier leagues

  10. the_killerz S Bakkum

I bet Heef/SS and many others would agree our ITM cup is > your top tier shit. Baring a few shit teams most could match your teams with ease.

To be fair, I do enjoy watching Toulouse play. Whenever I manage to catch highlights it always seems to be Medard and Clerc running circles around cunts. :p

I thought NH rugby is renowned for their defence. :troll:

Even though the quality is lower I actually find Super League a far more attractive product to watch than NRL.

    Good call

Get fucked. Just because players miss a few tackles, Northern Hemisphere guys automatically hate it. Good running rugby, generally speaking. Hardly any tactical kicking errors. Sure, there's some utter shite games in there, but I bet there's a few in the European Leagues too. For sure, I'd rather watch the NPC or Heartlands than European Rugby. When I was living in the UK; which was for a pretty long time, the turgid sport that masqueraded as rugby over there nearly put me off the game for life. That said, from what I've seen of the English union this last 12 months (before that, I didn't have it on Sky) has been much better.

    Why?

It's been less effected by all the major cancers that have crept into the game since 2000. It resembles early to mid 90s ARL a lot more, and while if an Australian team from the 90s tried to play their style in the current NRL competition they'd get slaughtered, it makes for a much better game to watch.

The speed of the ruck hasn't been as badly effected by wrestling tactics (although it happens more every year unfortunately) which generally allows the referees to employ a slower game. While many people cringe at the thought of a slower game, I think Super League teams adjust to such a thing much better than NRL teams - they play with a lot more depth in attack for their backline movements instead of this flat stuff we see in the NRL, and yardage up the middle has to be made by actual props rather than wingers scooting from dummy half. The greater depth in attack also means the outside players have to actually have ball-skills rather than just being big, strong, fast (usually Polynesian) blokes who can hit a hole.

Some of the players aren't as good, but I think that's somewhat oddly made up by the fact that the coaching isn't quite as good either. Outdated coaching on a wide scale ironically makes the game better to watch. Ex NRL coaches going over there is gradually ruining it though; all the problems I spoke of have emerged or have begun to emerge in the ESL already; they just aren't quite on such a wide scale yet.

I only really watch highlights of the NRL, so I have a massively overinflated view of it. Probably the wrong word, but you know what I mean. I just see the best tries, and they usually involve bits of skill that would be far and beyond most Super League players. Bar Rangi, obviously.

I actually tend to agree with you on this subject.

Also the atmosphere in ESL is so much better than NRL.

KR > FC whilst I'm at it too.

Interesting signing for the Highlanders - James Haskell.

Looks like they're getting a good squad together with Hore, Gear and Tamati Ellison having already put pen to paper.

So who is playing for the Hurricanes?
