I know this has been discussed heaps already, but I reckon a salary cap could be a good idea.
    Reasons being:
    1. It makes the game more interesting. For example, clubs dominating year-after-year gets pretty boring, IMO.
    2. Recruitment periods would have a lot more spice.
    3. It makes clubs think about whether they want a gun firsts side but no reggies or a combination of each.
So, what do ya think? :whistling:

    Yeah, I like that idea.

    How would the salaries work?

Love the idea of a salary cap tbh.

  5. Hunter AD Hunt

How would you determine player value though?

  6. Roaddogg AJ Izett

don't know how it could work tbh

also don't think rob would agree to it

  7. Youngman JE Harding

Yea It is a good idea.

Post-count salary? Or like a ranking cap (ie, each team can have a maximum of 3 players inside the top10 at the begining of the season)

I'm unsure about it, seems like you could be crippling clubs for being too good.....

    In before lock though

Player values can be determined by the player rankings, IMO.

I'd only be for the idea of players could sign on for as little as they liked. I don't like the thought of a club telling a loyal player "No sorry, we can't afford you regardless of what happens" and see him have to go to another club.

It can't really work though, because there's no incentive to sign on for more money. Everyone would just sign on for CricsSim$1 - there's no gain from getting a bigger paycheque. I'd have to give players minimum values based on simming averages/past performances/whatever which would cause problems relating to my first paragraph.

Hence, even if every single person who posts in here except me is 100% for it, it shan't be happening.

I know it sorta discourages loyalty, but we see that in real-life sports all the time. Do you get pissed off if your club lets go a loyal player?
Doing minimum values would be the best way IMO.
The fact that there's now a paper about Cricsim means that there can be gossip about who signs where as well. I love reading articles about players people won't sign. Salary caps get rid of loyalty.
At least give it a chance. If it doesn't do anything, scrap it. If it does, keep it.

    Hate this idea.

I'm gonna think of an intelligent way to do something similar to this. Honest. I'll get back to you....

  15. Fungus K Fung

If they are really loyal, then they should stay even if they take a big cut.

  16. morgieb MC Burridge

    ZING! Exactly.

  17. Roaddogg AJ Izett

the point is what benefit to the player would a bigger contract bring?

you could only do it as a points system by ranking meaning you couldn't take a cut to stay with your current team

  18. AVA T Delonge

A cut of what? Form? Skill?

  19. SM MD Dorn

    Post count?

  20. SM MD Dorn

    Actually that would be gun...

Clubs are allocated X amount of post count boost, and they can use it to sign players
