high probability of forcing out people who don't want to leave, imagine if it was in the All Stars days...

This is just an idea so that some of the teams who look like struggling in the future, or can't attract top players, can keep up, and have a chance... Tough luck if you can't, IMO... Try harder, wait it out or fold.

I like the idea of a salary cap, but as said, it just wouldn't work. Post count boosts is the only reason I can think of that anyone would sign somewhere over another, and rob's already ruled this out. On top of that, it would only aid in signing rookies, really.
Personally, I don't like how our reggies is set up. If it was up to me, I'd have it so that each team signs their squad of 15. In order to be signed to one of these bs teams, a player must have played a full season in a development league first. I have a feeling that this might be something like what cricketweb do with their development league?
Basically, those from the team not in the top squad join up with another bs team and enter a joint alc team into a 4 team comp. What it would do is weed out all the people that make one post and never return before they'd joined a club. After the season, I'd have a draft on these players with 8th getting first pick etc. I know that the idea of a player going somewhere he doesn't want to is not ideal, but it's only for one season that they would be signed on for so as a president, I would not sign a rookie that I wouldn't think would stay on for the long term.

I don't think that players should leave if they don't want to. That should be up to the player, not the club. It's more about players who aren't that loyal or don't have that much posts/are shit.
The purpose of a cap is to even the competition out. I was curious whether it would work. The arguments that raged PEWS was me debating the merits of a salary cap. I thought that the fact that he was a Raven meant that he didn't like having a cap as that meant that his club would be shit. The fact that you (a Puma) said that clubs like that should keep trying may in fact mean that the push for a cap would fail bad.

I floated the idea of posts being used as currency to sign players, with a salary cap, before we even used post rankings to effect sim ratings, but that's the best possible way and even it has too many flaws to work well and be fair.

Actually agree with this. Changing the ALC so that players who don't stay active get weeded out would make the comp more stable.
A main problem with that is that clubs won't take risks with rookies. That may spell the end of the forum, as all the guys will leave and no-one else will join.

I actually put this forward on the old forum.

Indeed. Posts are the only variable that could be used as currency, and that's at a stretch.

Basically, the salary cap idea is good, but as yet, no one has come up with a way to implement it

    That's rich :p

    Wait. What?
There'd be a draft for rookies. Realistically, no more than 24 active new players rock up each season. Each club could easily take 3 on. Over time this would mean an expansion of the alc, and bs, but that's a good thing. It gives a better production line than alc -> bs.

Firstly, I'm against t but the only way it could be done is if each club is alotted an amount of posts to send on keeping or buying players but that is still sketchy and has its holes.

Was thinking about the 15-man limits. The fact is that with limits it would take a while to get noticed for rookies and they may leave making 1000s of posts and not picking up a club.

THis is an OK idea in theory, a ****ing deplorable idea in practice. Yeah, lets start a post count thing and at the Gamblers me and Benny are ranked 1 and 3. We would use all our post salary for shit ****s and turn them gun. There are so many problems with this idea it is overloading my brain. Should never, ever, ever happen.

Yeah, but most teams have a few with a lot of posts. It would only be used for those with less than 5k as an actual bargaining tool.

I'd give pretty much the whole salary to Guest. He would be a superstar.

Post count doesn't nessercariliy mean gunness, TBF.
    KD & Guest to confirm.

Post counts would mean the club gets a set amount of posts each season, right? If they go over, penalties occur.

I like the idea, if it is used properly.
