Season 13 Ideas and Suggestions (read the first post or you'll get an infraction)

I made a decision a while ago that we essentially just wouldn't have folding teams anymore, as I felt the member base here was basically too fickle and we'd get teams collapsing, starting up and restarting every season.

The idea is that clubs will progress through different management if/when the founders move on or go inactive or whatever.

 

A real counter to this is a club like the Stingrays though, who have forged a new culture completely separate from the blokes who set it up originally. They just changed and evolved.

After most of the guys who formed Manchester United moved on/died they didn't just pack up their club and suggest to the existing members that they should form their own side to preserve the historical culture of the club. They let it grow and evolve under different administration, different players etc. The same will happen with CS clubs.

Of course, in real life, clubs can and do fold. However, unlike in real life, CS members seem to want to fold and start new clubs at the drop of a hat. That IMO actually destroys the history rather than preserving it, by not tying it to anything ongoing. People care a lot more about the history of the Cyclones -- even though it's vastly different to to the current personnel - than the history of the Redbacks, because the Redbacks aren't relevant anymore.

If a club ends up in disarray I'll just work with the owners to see about handing it off to someone else; there won't be any folding. Pretty sure I actually made an unofficial rule banning folding chat from suggestion threads because it was infuriating having this conversation all the time, actually, but as it was so long ago I'll do it just this once.
