Anyways, so you would advocate that your country's 'A' team performances also play an equal part in it's rankings?

How does higher quality = greater importance? Because Quality > Quantity imo, and the 2nd XI (ALC) only exists because there are extras in the club. (Basically what Skippos said put in a nicer way :p)

Regardless, I don't think your idea that they should be treated equally is wrong at all though, I see a fair amount of sense in that as well, since it would be a good indication of the success of a club overall. However it just feels fair to me that those playing cricket of a higher quality should be rewarded better in the club rankings, since the premier competition the club takes part in matters the most in determining how good at cricket a club is.

When judging a club, overall, yes actually.

Talk about a ridiculous statement. Assessing a club overall has nothing to do with how many people go the their games.

By that standard Souths are stronger than Melbourne.

lol, no he doesn't. He used crowd figures as a test of a club. Might as well have used the type of grass on which they played.:whistling:

No. That is a different question.

The argument is not quality vs quantity. All clubs have two sides. The argument is uniformity and consistency.

I think what he meant was if junior cricket was givem as much importance in the rankings, thousands would turn up for it

Funkeh & Tarteh are better than that.

You asked: "How does higher quality = greater importance?". A stupid question...now backed by equally stupid arguments

Just a reminder of how null and void MF's argument is anyway....

I think making you look good is their greatest ever batting achievements :p

Personally I feel the primary goal of a club, on the cricket pitch anyway, is to win the Bannerman Shield, as it's the pinnacle of the sport. The Horrigan Cup and ALC then follow with decreased importance.

Therefore, to accurately represent the success of a club, any ranking system should take these priorities into account. I could understand if someone disagreed with prioritizing the Horrigan Cup over the ALC, but it'd be genuinely surprising to me if anyone seriously believed that winning the ALC was equally as important as the BS.

    I disagree.

All of Downpipes good form and I still can't force my way into the ALC side.

Well, that's because our batting order is based on openers who prefer to bat in the middle order. You just wouldn't fit in.

That's why I'm trying so hard to become an opener.
