Don't think there'd be any point in him playing lock. It'd just lessen your already dominant pack and he'd still play as a five-eighth anyway. Wouldn't have enough in attack as a lock IMO.
It'd give them another dimension their attack though. Douglas, Snowden, Gallen and Tupou all play pretty big minutes and they're all huge workers in attack so the forward load would still pretty much be covered, and Barrett could just play as an extra link and focus a lot more on his running game. I think it'd add something to the team. Alternatively he could just play centre; I definitely think he'd be a much better centre than Tautai even though it's been a long time since he'd played there. Honestly though, the most noticeable thing about the Sharks is just how slow they do everything. There's no crispness to their play at all and the players routinely run contradicting lines. I loathe to blame a coach for a team's failures as teams are often just shithouse, but Cronulla have quite a good team on paper and it's hard to pinpoint areas that make them so bad - I really think Stuart needs to be looked at.
2 more NRL standard three quarters and Cronulla have a gun team IMO. Oh....and a fullback. What the hell has happened to Matthew Wright? He showed promise last year. Moreso than the likes of Gordon, Tautai and Pomeroy anyway IMO.
Yeah, I really liked the look of Wright. Reminded me heaps of Matt Gidley. He spent the first part of the year playing five-eighth in the 20s, then he started playing lock in the NSW Cup. Now he's finally playing centre in the NSW Cup.
Why the **** isn't he playing left centre in the NRL. Tautai is at least partially excusable on the wing. Better off ****ing him off completely though. Gordon's not doing anything wrong but he's not impressed me at all really. Really disgusted that I'm saying this but short, slight wingers don't really have a place in the NRL these days unless they're just exceptional at what they do. Merritt and Ryan are a couple I can think of that fit that mould.
I'm hardly going to agree or disagree considering I've seen him play 80 minutes of football. Even if he's been gun in other grades he's got to prove his worth yet. Hell Bronx Goodwin was a gun in reserve grade and Will Zillman was Clive Churchill reborn.
Gordon is unlucky he's outside Tautai. If he was with a good center in a good team he'd be an awesome winger. He's probably the fastest winger but he's pretty solid in defence
Yeah I realise that. But there are other wingers outside terrible centres that have looked good in doing so.
Really don't know. The fact that I signed him for 180k in NNRL this year is probably a good indication of what I think of him.
Gordon's okay. Yet to be convinced he's better than Stapleton though who seems to get scapegoated all the time.
Well I guess you're entited to your opinion but he definitely was the difference tonight with Gallen. He's not a crisp fullback, but **** me he's awesome for his age.
I really don't think changing the team make-up is going to make too much of a difference though - the team itself looks fine. Getting Barrett out of five-eighth might help but the team just looks so slow and poorly coached.
Stapleton is a ****ing gun center. It's funny though the time he's given the chance he still dominates and funnily still gets dropped from the position.
Wilson I've already agreed with you that Gardner was good tonight FFS. It's all I've seen of him though (I think) so I can hardly form any opinion of him at all yet is what I'm saying.
