    Can they do that? NRL has pretty much always forced the clubs to pay the remainder of a player's salary.

    Yeah they can do that. The NRL has forced clubs to do this when they're pushing players out, not when they're just letting them go after they've asked for releases. If both parties agree to just part ways with no payout then that's all cool.

    If Hayne wants the Titans to honour the contact he can force them to by honouring it on his end and playing for them. But if he wants them to grant the release he's going to have to play nice.

    It was different with someone like Farah for example who was quite happy to keep getting his full pay from the Tigers and playing reserve grade if he had to. Tigers decided it'd be better to only pay him half and so agreed to a release.

    The 'payout'/money that the Titans were paying him that was being talked about in the media was the rumour that Jaryd Hayne wasn't going to tell the Titans he wanted a release until he was due back from off-season early next year.

    Given NRL contracts run from November 1, the Titans have already been paying him and would proceed to pay him for the next 6 weeks until he's due back for pre-season in early January. Then he could sign a 9 month contract with the Eels for exactly the same amount of money as they would've paid him had he requested a release immediately & signed an 11 month contract but he would've also already been paid 2-3 months of his Titans contract.

    Assuming the rumour is true, unfortunately for Hayne it go leaked that he wanted out and had already agreed with Parra to return home.

    There were rumours the players weren't happy with Griffin.

    Then they went on a re-signing spree and that rumour kind of died the ass but who knows...

    Read a stat today that if Anthony Griffin makes the top 8 this year he will be the only coach in Panthers history to make the top 8 3 years in a row.

    Next years squad is shaping up pretty poorly, but they've had a top 8 roster the past two seasons imo.


    I think they're fucking the roster up though, I'd sooner us not have Tamou or Maloney and developed what we had instead.
