I'm not surprised he got the sack, I'm definitely surprised they did it now though. Figured he'd last several rounds next year, at least.

I'm guessing they are looking at getting Madge? Who else is on the market?

 

As a Broncos fan, I feel bad for Kev. Sucks for a club legend to go down like this, but I do think it's the right call at the end of the day..

It's better to do it now and try and have things sorted before next season, than rot for 6-10 weeks next year and fuck around with an interim coach for the rest of the season and possibly miss out on a marquee pick.
They probably have 1 more good season (if that...) with Reynolds, so they needed to bite the bullet.
After they ran off Ikin, as far as I'm aware, Broncos are the only team where there's no General Manager. Kev wanted to control everything. He pretty much wanted to run it like an old school footy side, but the scope is so big now, it can't be done. He had zero answers by the end of the season, and in their independent review, he probably still had zero answers. So they needed a coaching overhaul.

 

Ezra is an intelligent fellow.

Drives unlicensed, crashes into an uber. Tests positive to an illegal drug...

 

Perfect chance to sack him. He's going to be one of the most over-paid players in the game. 850k a year for a bloke that can't tackle, and can't create anything himself.

 

Broncos goofed hard letting Herbie go. He tore Samoa to pieces.

Papenhuyzen gone from Storms -> R360 probably.

 

Paps is absolutely cooked as a player. He doesn't have the pace that made him a threat. Smart to take the cash and run.

 

Wouldn't be shocked if the R360 guys get thier cash, then the comp folds after 1 or 2 seasons.

In saying that, the comp folding and no-one getting paid is just as likely.

 

Which is why I think it will put off younger big names, unless they get money up front.
