He'd planned it before the tournament though apparently. Pretty big blow for Germany really. Lahm was the only genuine fullback in the country Löw showed any faith to play. Can't go to France with four CB's bullshit again.
Yeah, amazing game, amazing tournament. I've not been to any matches in Europe but if the passion came anywhere near matching that shown by the South American fans it'd be quite remarkable. I've seen two of the best goals of the tournament as well from Cahill and Rodriguez, both at the end of the ground where I was sitting. Ended up seeing the following games Chile v Australia - Cuiaba Argentina v Bosnia - Rio Netherlands v Australia - Porto Alegre Spain v Australia - Curitiba Ecuador v France - Rio Columbia v Uruguay - Rio France v Germany - Rio Argentina v Belgium - Brasilia Germany v Argentina - Rio And I've still got about two weeks of holidays left. Tough life.
Depends where in Europe really. Italians and Spaniards are so passionate. Incredible trip!! So jealous!
I've been at OT with the Ajax fans in the away end. They were fucking crazy - so passionate. I hear the German fans are pretty good too
Yeah, tbh most Europeans do go pretty nuts. Except the French, who are indifferent towards fucking everything.
Not back yet, but I´d say it´s going to end up at about 35k (nearly 20 thousand pounds for the Poms) in total, spent over 10 weeks exactly. Could´ve been done much cheaper though.
How the fuck can you fund that? That's £2k a week! More than alot of people earn in a month anyway - certainly after tax. How is that not too bad lol. Crazy money
I was just thinking about holidays I go on are certainly shorter but clock up a higher weekly amount. And you have to factor in the costs associated with the world cup I would have thought were pretty steep. So I deemed his not too bad. Tbf though mine sometimes include other ppl in the costs so that would skew flights, hotels, food, other event costs etc. You do tend to spend more on a holiday per week than you earn though!
I saved up for roughly three years at least. I was probably living at home for two-thirds of that and paying only a small amount per week for rent. The main thing that got me over the line is that I didn't claim what's called the tax free threshold over here. Meant that come tax time each year I was getting anywhere between 6 and 8 grand back in a lump sum that I just put straight into the bank. When I got hired to my current job I told them I was planning on doing this and would quit when the time came if I had to. I originally thought when I came over that I'd be on unpaid leave, but as it turned out, I'd accrued a bit of extra leave from the overtime I'd been doing and they decided they wanted me to take it all, so that was 8 or so weeks worth of cash that I didn't expect. Without that I'd probably be slightly in debt, but as it stands I'm heading back for a pay rise, so I can probably get home and either move out straight away or buy a car if mine has fallen to pieces. Basically this trip worked out so well because I was in a position that people seldom are in life. I was single, cashed up and with plenty of time on my hands. No true responsibilities other than to work and family, who were both more than happy to see me do this. I'll probably start saving for a massive Europe + Russia trip in 2018 when I get back, but who knows what my life will be like in four years.
