Have never watched Star Wars or Star Trek whichever one you guys are on about.

Yeah this. Thought they did the arena really really well. Exactly how I pictured it pretty much.

It's why I love the movies tbh. Read the books first so when I watched the first film I was a bit worried but they really do it justice imo.

The last book's a bit shit but I think it lends itself to a film alot better than the first too so it should still be a good'un

Yeah, exactly how I pictured it too.

I can understand why people didn't like it though, it was hard to get if you haven't seen the first - and the context of some of what's going on wasn't communicated as well as it could have been, meaning that if you hadn't read the book you mightn't totally get it. That's a downfall of it.

Anyone who watches the sequel of anything without watching the original deserves to be wholly disappointed. Enjoying it should be a massive surprise, especially since sequels are often crap even when you have seen the original.

Haha, yeah, agreed. I expected it to be explain a whole lot better though.

Some of the best sequels of all time can be watched without watching the originals. Aliens, Terminator 2, Temple of Doom etc.

Yeah I definitely agree with that senitment, obviously it's best to watch them in order but many sequels can and do exist as stand alone films.

Other films are obviously just part of a larger story. You could not watch any film of LOTR in isolation of the others to get a "complete" story, however you could certainly watch Terminator 2 and get both a beginning and an end.

This. It looks really dire and I just can't see the appeal in it.

Yeah this is undoubtedly true, but I don't think anyone really has a right to complain if they watch the sequel of something first and they don't fully understand it or don't like it. It's just a stupid thing to do. If you do it and it works out then it's a bonus; I don't think sequels should be written with the cunt who didn't watch the first one in mind.

Watched the Movie "Now you see me" recently. It made me google for the character "Lionel Shrike" .

Saw the new hunger games flick, thought it was pretty good. Personally don't think it needed any additional/more graphic violence. All the twists and turns were pretty predictable, but overall I thought it was really good, especially for a filler movie.
I come away from a lot of movies that are in the middle of a series to be a bit meh and just feel like I've sat through a yawn fest that was purely designed to build to the next movie and offer noting itself. Found myself entertained and intrigued throughout most of the 2.5 hours in this one though.

I loved it ay, better than the first one I reckon. I've read all of the books too and it was pretty spot on

The main problem I had with Catching Fire was that it's so bloody depressing.

Watched 5 mins of Riddick and fell asleep, was extremely tired tbf but sensed it shitness.

Two Wahlberg movies in a row without planning. First Pain n Gain, didn't like it as a comedy true story would have been better if they did it a bit darker. Second 2 Guns, quite a good shoot em up movie.

    The Way Way Back.

Love these sort of coming of age movies and this one was really well done. The lead guy managed to pull of the awkward teenage stage perfectly.

Is the Hunger Games movie really 2 and a half hours long? I don't think I have the willpower to sit through that.

I remember sitting through Lawrence of Arabia, and that movie was like 5 hours long. It was boring as shit too.

Sat through Amadeus about a year or 2 ago, and I actually liked it, though it was "only" 3 hours long.

And then there were the Lord of the Rings too, they went on forever.

Couldn't do that again though, probably not even 2.5 hours.

Finally got around to seeing The Prestige. Very good movie. Not really my cup of tea but Nolan is good for a headfuck and I enjoyed it a lot more than that piece of shit Inception.
