Victorian Second XI would dominate kents. Would these matches be given Second Class status or Rep status?
Depends if they could field a couple of full sides by then. If they'd be decent then yeah, sure. If not then Mittens XI will just play instead (which is likely). I'm still not sold on the long-term sustainability of two NSW provinces - it works fine at the moment but a lot of them are on the decline so I don't know how long it'll last.
There'd be two Mittens XIs? One instead of the Asia second XI and one instead of one of the NSW second XIs?
There's only one NSW Second XI in the comp this season so it doesn't need replacing. I get what you're saying with the PC draw changing because of Asia going up and not just going nowhere, but that'd make 7 teams and a bye which is still only three games in each grade. Actually, coming to think of it, we wouldn't need Mittens next season. The team with the bye in the PC just wouldn't play a Second XI game either (or they'd be able to just stack it with guns ).
The season before NZ were good enough to play in the PC, they played a team called Mittens which was comprised of players on the fringe of provincial cricket who couldn't quite make it to their respective sides. You had to register your interest to play for Mittens at the time so it was full of active players who were interested in the results, which made it a far more popular team than I ever could've imagined. Kind of like the Unicorns that play in county cricket, I guess.
Keen to play extra games, but calling them Rep 2nd XI's or whatever is a bit dire. Ive been pretty close to pulling out my Kiwi passport lately, just because ill never play for NSW.
NSW, QLD, Vic, NZ, Brit. Who'd be the 6th second XI team... We do need the Mittens! :O Oh wait, so there'd just be four games a round? What happens when the bye team is Asia. I should really stop debating these small things that will turn out to be irrelevant.
