Provincial Second XI games?

You could say the exact same thing as Origin/BS back in the day. Origin was only three games. But people cared. :p

You don't 'earn' it though. Why should Bullpitt, who is doing nothing for the site, get to play twice a week in the BS and PC while someone active like Shagger plays ALC?

What about someone like Marto who gets a game for Britain despite not being around that often while Frizzed can't get a rep game even though he's a regular.

It's not a rep game, it'll be second class. If Cribb is willing to sim more games to get more people interested, why is that such a bad thing?

Yeah, it's definitely not a rep game. People will still have to earn their spots in actual rep teams - these games won't be going down as "rep" in the stats. In fact they won't even be First Class games. I don't see how it cheapens it any more than the trials we have before the PC, or the fact that we actually have shit provinces like New Zealand, Victoria and Britain playing.

The Provincial Championship offers a different team makeup and some continuity in which teams players are representing, but it's been a long time since you had to be an exceptional player to play in it. The honour/recognition teams will be North and South at the end of the season.

That's a cop out. Clearly Mittens were a much better standard than your average Provincial 2nd XI. Even if you valued those matches the same as a Provincial 2nd XI game, that's better than leaving them out altogether. In fact, move Mittens games to be recorded in the same place as these Provincial 2nd XI games if that makes it easier.

Should come out of retirement, then. :p

Maybe instead have North vs South happen in the middle of the PC instead of having these 2nd XI games?

Would then put a far greater emphasis on squad depth for some unions.

    Or you could possibly go

Provincial week 1: PC games, 2nd XI games
PW2: PC games 2nd XI games
PW3: PC Games, North vs South
PW4: PC Games, North vs South
PW5: PC Games, North vs South
    PW6: PC Finals

    New Zealand domestic cricket tbh.

Oh wait, this isn't the ICC forums, my bad.

But (Y) to more games, even though I suck too much to actually play.

Haha I didn't think you were serious about getting those matches includes. Care Cup games, provincial trials etc are of a much greater standard than a lot of ALC games too but they're trials so they don't count. Mittens games were trials too. There's no way to determine the quality of each side; I could determine the quality of the standard somewhat easily or just guess but given they didn't play in a comp with all the other sides, I can't determine how the batting was and how good their bowling was of each individual team - same with NZ, it's impossible. It's definitely not going to happen, so you can stop bringing it up every time I try to add something to the rankings. Or let Zohaib change his rego ;)

Seriously wished I never simmed those games. I thought it'd be fun to get NZ some practice and give the blokes who weren't playing and were active a game, but all it's done since then is cause me endless drama with people continuously calling for more Mittens games or trying to get them recognised more.

Do Misc. games count towards simming averages?

  11. Cribbage RG Cribb

A little, yeah. Not as much as a proper competition game though.

    Yeah, this sounds heaps good!

The only reason I've mentioned it here is that it seems silly to include games of lower quality in the rankings. Given that it becomes more important to play 2nd XI Provincial than other games of a similar quality, I think you're going to skew performance in favour of those teams with insufficient depth. Hence, I'd say the 2nd XI Provincial idea is generally not a good idea.

There's an equal chance of failing and succeeding in every game you play, though. Players will only get better by playing in these games if they actually perform above their current determined mean and that'll only happen about half the time.

    Heaps keen.

I don't know if you're serious but that's exactly what would happen next season. :p

  17. brettman135 BR Hall

    Would be extremely keen.

  18. Roaddogg AJ Izett

    sounds good

Cribb should pretty much just count 66 keens for the 66 people who'll get to play in the seconds.

It's the only thing that makes any logical sense.
