Over Waddell.... yes. Waddell has potential but he isn't First Grade ready yet.

 

He has a good first trial as far as I know from reading things.... he obviously has been training in the Second Row though seeing as he has been named there this week.

It is not so much Purtell is good or whatever, I just think that Waddell would not cope in FG because he is not physically able. He needs to get some match fitness up and the only way he is going to do that is actually play some footy. He is too old for the NYC now IIRC so he will need to play for Windsor and just get used to the intensity of "playing with the big boys". You see I find that someone like Dane Gagai or Michael Oldfield are ready for it because they have played a lot of NYC and stayed fit without getting injured.

I like Waddell and he has potential and that excites me but my excitement hasn't really continued because I am able to accept that it is unlikely he will play until he can get a season under his belt. I have no idea when the last time was he got a full season in.

 

Its not what he is capable of.... I am concerned about his lack of match play with decent players and his inability to stay on the field.

Sadly. I find it quite dire as well. Elliot knows that he can't put Purtell in the backline anymore and knows there is an available spot in the backrow so he fucking turns him into a second rower.

 

Yeah but Smith is gun now, I can't stand Purtell. He just has that face you want to punch like Beau Scott and Marcus North.

 

Purtell is solid in defence at times but he is really slow. Purtell has the ability to make decent tackles but as soon as it is one-on-one, the attacker is always going to win.
