    Rogers Cup - Second Round

Brits continue to make the most of the grass courts, and they'll make up half of the players going into the last eight. Oscar Wood was the first hopeful Brit on court today, but an epic match against Wes Welker did not go his way. Wood had a great comeback in the second set against the world #1, but couldn't transfer the momentum into a break in the third. Welker will come against Ginger Furball in the quarters, who easily snuffed out Marcuss Deane's chances once again. Second seed Ivan Ryabovol's poor run of form continues, exiting this time at the hands of Ritwick Chowdhuri, though he did put up a reasonable fight. Andrew James may be on the up form-wise though, beating last week's champion Alex O'Driscoll in straight sets, using his strong serve which was very conductive to the surface. Other power server Heath Davis overpowered fellow Kiwi Ether Starris, who failed to put up much of a fight after a slightly surprising win in the first round.

US Clay Court Championships - Quarters

Upsets were few and far between today, the least of which was Shane Masters losing. Seems like one singles win was too much for him. There were two reasonably competitive matches in the singles today, both of which were won right at the end, really we could have had two completely different semifinalists from those games. Alistair Son cleaned up Samuel Vimes, but the Celt won himself a place in the doubles semis somehow, a miraculous feat given that he was paired with Masters. Pre-tournament favourites Bosh Burger & Samuel Yates made it through after a tighter than expected clash with John Anraad & Michael Edwards, they'll face Masters and Vimes in the next round.
