Glad to get a win first up. Probably wont beat Azzal though.

Also interesting to see us matched up against Lee in the doubles since Lee and Weaver were potential partners.

Glad to get through but Wheelson came very close to beating me in our first match and has the game to challenge me.

Auckland: First Round - Bottom Half

The second day of the Heineken Open didn't prove to be as exciting as yesterday, but that didn't stop Jono Chewie showing off some entertaining tennis on the way to a very comfortable win over Leumas Himann. Chewie broke serve straight away and took it easy in the first set, before really putting his foot down and putting the game to bed in the second. Himann was constantly under pressure on serve, and so never really got a serving rhythm in place. His shaky serving is evidenced by him only being able to put one third of his serves in first time. It was also a good day for Andrew James, who powered his way through to the quarter finals. For most of the match, James and his opponent Lee matched each other for skill. But when it came to the pressure points, Lee made a habit of making errors, and this turned out to be what separated the two.

    Results
Bruce Force def Jonty Rhodes 6-3, 6-1
Truman Lee def by Andrew James 2-6, 5-7
Chris Warrington def by Gareth Weaver 4-6, 5-7
Leumas Himann def by Jono Chewie 3-6, 1-6

Ugh serving and returning obviously hurting my play here. Should have put more points in those.

Sydney: First Round - Bottom Half
Today's outstanding match in Sydney was contested between Jake Howe and Ivan Ryabovol. Howe came out all guns blazing to start with, using his powerful serve as his main weapon. However this didn't provide him with a strategy off serve, and when Ryabovol finally worked out how to play the serve (after being aced about five times) Howe had no response, and lost the first set. This clearly upset Howe, and after a signal from his coach, he strode back out onto the court. Not content with the mental damage he had done to Ryabovol by acing him a few times, Howe turned to physical damage. The cricketesque bodyline tactic worked to great effect, damaging Ryabovol sufficiently to be able to break him and take the second set. Unfortunately for Howe, his opponent yet again saw through his tactic in the third set, and that was enough to beat him, seeing as Howe never really offered much apart from his big serve. In other matches, Haych Bots didn't get a single serve in as he lost to Morgan Burridge in straight sets, and Samuel Vimes lost his first match to Alex O'Driscoll, who will play Burridge in the next round.

    Alex O'Driscoll def Samuel Vimes 7-6 (7-4), 6-4
Morgan Burridge def Haych Bots 6-4, 6-4
Matt James def Jonny Ridd 6-3, 1-6, 6-2
