Here are my favourite films for the year. Didn't get much time to watch anything during the year but got to catch up during the holidays. It was a pretty good year for film, although I don't think it was as good as the last couple of years. 1. The King’s Speech - Fantastically crafted and the three main actors were all brilliant. 2. Inception - Any movie that has entire audiences gasping in the final scene deserves to be in the top three. Nolan can do no wrong. 3. The Social Network - Didn’t think it would be as good as it was. Eisenberg’s been fantastic for years now (Zombieland, Adventureland) and deserves all the acclaim he is getting. 4. 127 hours - Fantastic tale of survival. Like Into the Wild but with a happy ending. Seen worse, but *that* scene was pretty full on. Sigur Ros at the end was the best choice of music I’ve seen in a film for years. 5. Toy Story 3 - As good, if not better than the first two. Great story and a great way to end the trilogy. 6. Shutter Island - Had me on the edge of my seat the entire film. 7. Animal Kingdom - Best Aussie film in years. Time to move on from Melbourne crime dramas though. 8. Buried - You’d think that a film with just one solitary actor would be boring, but it’s not at all. You genuinely feel claustrophobic whilst watching this film. 9. True Grit - Jeff Bridges WAG. 10. Kick Ass - So many awesome scenes in this movie, but none better than “Okay ****s, let’s see what you can do now” Special mention goes to Black Swan, The Fighter, Green Zone.
I know it came out in 2009 but I think Avatar is one of the top movies in 2010. It was not a great movie for the storyline but the graphics in it were awesome and it will lead to more awesome effects.
Good list in the OP. Pretty much spot on, only one i havent seen is 127 hours, but am going to watch that this week.
