Farhat Best Pick: Ryan Carters - He isn't terrible. Worst Pick: Clint McKay - Clint McKay is your 2nd proper fast bowler. Clint McKay is a shunt. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/6xJdQSGuA3k?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Overall Squad Depth: D You are going to go for a heck of a lot of runs if one of your latter and in my opinion pretty average pace bowling picks does not come ridiculously good. I'd be very surprised if this wasn't the worst pace attack in the tournament by a long stretch. Farhat is going to be fighting for the spoon here in my opinion. Some very average picks after a strong start will really hinder this team. Saeed Ajmal Zaheer Khan Tamim Iqbal Michael Hussey Marcus North Usman Khawaja Moises Henriques Clint McKay Mitchell Marsh Tim Paine Luke Wright Ryan Carters Ben Rohrer Kane Richardson Sean Ervine Nasir Jamshed Shahid Afridi Matthew Fisher
Farhat could still be a force at home. Ajmal is the world's best spinner and North is better than some of the blokes who were picked as first choice specialist spinners. Most teams struggle for spin depth so he should really be looking at preparing a bunsen IMO. The extra batting depth seamers like Henriques and Marsh provide will come in handy there as they won't be required to bowl all that much with Ajmal wheeling away all day and North also handy on a spinning wicket.
I reckon pretty much no-one will make a turner. Which is silly really; even if you think you have a shit second spinner, if it's better than everyone else's then it's worth doing; comparative advantage. Hopefully Farhat reads this thread.
Yeah. You're pretty much the only person who actually over-rates his spin stocks relative to everyone else's.
Eds Best Pick: Mitchell Johnson - Since picking Johnson, he has played 3 Test matches where he has taken 22 wickets to demolish the #1 Test team in the world. You lucky fuck. How he went so low in the round I have no idea, coupling him with Misbah in the second is one of the major reasons why your team is rated so highly. Nikita was also a gun pick as I've stated before. Thankfully his current season is exposing him to be the domestic journeyman we all know him to be. Still a great pick for the round. Your first 7 picks were probably the strongest in the entire draft. Worst Pick: Dilhara Lokuhettige - When you start picking Sri Lankan fast bowlers to give your squad some depth, you're getting into dangerous territory. A lot of your post round 11 picks are either outright dire or pretty average. But Dilhara? A Sri Lankan seamer with no Test success to speak of? <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/V6F_E5NZ9Y0?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Overall Squad Depth: B- God I hope you get injury owned. Your first XI is remarkably strong but your latter rounds picks have left you in a position where the next guy coming in is very likely to shunt it. We're all hoping you get 0wned Eds. Every one of us. Mitchell Johnson Misbah-ul-Haq Steve Magoffin Kaushal Silva Rishi Dhawan Manoj Tiwary Nikita Miller Sadaf Hussain Kusal Peera Ankit Bawne Harshad Khadiwale Dilhara Lokuhettige Steve Harmer Shaminda Eranga Mithun Manhas Atif Maqbool Upul Tharanga Divan van Wyk
WAG. I can't even remember who your non-Borthwick spinners are so I'm not sure you're the guy who should be doing it, but good to see someone will go in with a turner.
Yeah hopefully he would be serviceable. Hoping we get to do our trials before setting pitches. BTW what is Hopes rated in this, medium or medium fast? will pretty much be the determining factor for how we allocate medium and fast assistance
Fast - 142+ Fast Medium - 135-142 Medium Fast - 128-135 Medium - 120-128 Slow - slower than that without turning it (Vettori ) So Hopes is medium fast, just. You'll get to see all that before you have to name pitches anyway.
Morgie Best Pick: Sunil Narine (Honourable mention to Jerome Taylor) - Both were picked up very late in the draft and I suspect both will spend a lot of time in your first XI. Narine is definitely a guy I can see with a future in the West Indian Test team, so he could potentially get a lot better too. Worst Pick: Hrishikesh Kanitkar - Excluding Umesh, I think your Asian cricketers are a heck of a lot weaker than the rest of your picks. I reckon you'll be swapping through them repeatedtly throughout the season and be unpleasantly surprised when they keep turning up and game after game and just awkwardly continue to be shit. Overall Squad Depth: C+ I'm not a massive fan of this team, I think there are 9 or so fairly strong if not remarkable players and 9 pretty mediocre ones. Lower half for sure. James Pattinson David Warner Joe Root Beuran Hendricks James Taylor Abhishek Nayar Imran Tahir Denesh Ramdin Michael Lumb Umesh Yadav Yashpal Singh Sarfraz Ahmed Taufeeq Umar Sunil Narine Hrishikesh Kanitkar Umesh Karunaratne Sarfraz Ahmed (the keeper) Jerome Taylor
