Atleast A puma made it :p

Out of interest, what would the 2nd XI look like? I suspect the batting would start to look a little thin.

  3. Cribbage RG Cribb

Yeah, as you'll find in club cricket, the pitches are a little dodgier and the bowling talent holds up better than the batting talent. The ALC is traditionally bowler-dominant so this was always going to be a bit more bowler-friendly than BS cricket.

    1. %DG Speirs (2487r @ 43.64; 48w @ 41.85)
    2. %A Vago (2365r @ 43.80)
    3. %BJT Manera (2530r @ 46.00)
    4. %JE McGrath (2355r @ 42.82)
    5. %T Delonge (2220r @ 43.53)
    6. %M Perry (2062r @ 39.65; 55w @ 32.80)
    7. %EI Morris (1860r @ 32.84; 88ct 4st)
    8. %C Laing (1490r @ 28.11; 107w @ 25.98)
    9. %SB Wilson (612r @ 13.02; 158w @ 21.28)
    10. %C Man (515r @ 11.70; 146w @ 20.30)
    11. %KF Tait (343r @ 8.37; 141w @ 20.79)

Could have picked lots of bowlers better than Callum, but I figured the allrounder was warranted there and he bowled really well in the tournament anyway.

I was a rubbish batsman in this.

    So was I.

  7. Callum CJ Laing

    1. DG Speirs - 2487 runs @ 43.63, 48 wickets @ 41.85
    2. A Vago - 2365 runs @ 43.80
    3. BJT Manera - 2530 runs @ 46.00
    4. T Delonge - 2530 runs @ 43.53
    5. JE McGrath - 2355 runs @ 42.82
    6. ZA Berkuta - 2106 runs @ 43.88
    7. EI Morris - 1806 runs @ 32.84
    8. C Laing - 1490 runs @ 28.11, 107 wickets @ 25.98

Is what I would say. The biggest one that could well be different is me. No allrounders outside of the guys who were in the 1st XI did well with bat and ball. I would probably have actually said Cribb had a slightly better tournament than me but that would have meant 3 spinners and only 2 seamers, so I felt it needed to be a seam bowling allrounder to bowl 3. Weaver was slightly better with the ball but I was better with the bat.
Olsen/Lewis/Gee could well bat 5 instead of McGrath too.

    EDIT: Owell Cribb posted.

Don't know how I missed Berkuta, he'd bat 5 with Delonge at 4 and McGrath ****ed right off. :p

Not too bad actually. Morris is a surprising entry, I guess. Definitely need a bowling all-rounder in there below Morris, and Callum's a decent pick for that. The superior batting of Callum is required over Gaz. With Choco and Wilson in there, the bowling already looks pretty damn good.

Yeah, it's when you start getting down to the third and fourth elevens that you'll notice the bowlers being much better than the batsmen. Several batsmen completely bombed out and averaged < 35.. some even averaged <30.. all the bowlers did reasonably well.

  11. Mousey AJ Son

Yeah, a batsman of my quality really should have averaged > 35.

There's a number of 'big name' batsmen that aren't in those 1st & 2nd XIs. And the averages of the 2nd XI aren't too hot. Definitely a bowler's paradise out there.

  13. Escath LE Schaw

So about 28 is good for a keeper?

  14. Callum CJ Laing

Not bad, especially given it is your first matches.

  15. Speirz DG Speirs

Morris scored some ridiculous amount of fifties without a single century though.

Probably would have made sense to play you ahead of Goodfellow.. that way we could pick another specialist middle order bat (Theo) ahead of Golding at six.
