If a club was gonna be able to sign the test side, it would have happened by now.

Yeah, unless I drop out of the Test side or all the players come to me, it isn't happening.:p

True, but i was just say that i'm sure Cribb would step in for the good of the game.

Probably wouldn't work, but what about posts or base simming averages? Or would that mess it all up too much?

Good of the game? Everyone accused us of doing it last season. We didn't even win.

    Rob already said no.

Would just mean the good players get better as teams pay them more and more to come to the club. And the bad players would get worse as they get the minimum to sign.

Fair enough. I see. I don't see how else it could work. Just keep it the way it is.

Did Cribb step in a change the teams? No and i mean like all players in the top 10.

Does the sim allow training and stuff?

Maybe a club gets a cap. Any money left over will go towards development of better ovals, training facilities etc? So a club is faced with chasing high value players or training the current players.

That would make players want to take a pay cut because they are loyal - if they are loyal they are willing to take it for the team.

Problem is not that much benefit for the player as such. Except maybe having better facilities will improve teams over time?

    Just some thoughts.

This actually does have some merit. I've considered it before. It has two BIG positives.

    • It'd fix the "incentive" issue with the salary cap, making it completely viable.
    • It'd actually reward people for quality posting, rather than just quantity. If you get a reputation as a quality poster, people will want you to join their teams and post in their subforums, subsequently increasing your market value. The incentive for members would be then to post well rather than just lots - which would really be excellent for the forum.

However, there's one big problem with this that I don't think we could overcome, making it an unusable idea.

Clubs simply wouldn't use it in the spirit it's intended. Lets take the Pumas for example. It's quite conceivable to suggest they'd throw about 60% of their salary cap on someone like Bovver.. not because he's proven himself as an awesome member that every club would want, not because he's an awesome player, not because he's been a loyal Pumas for seasons and they think he deserves it.... but simply because they need a fast bowler for their first grade team, and giving him a stack of posts would transform him into that player.

It's allow teams to just "make" good players, which is a totally unrealistic situation. In real life, players benefit from getting more money, but teams do not. Under this "solution", teams would benefit from their players getting more posts which creates, in essence, a conflict of interest.

I'd just throw all my posts at qlders.

Post rank actually has no effect on Origin performances, although I suppose it'd let them play better at club level which would in turn effect their Origin performances.

I think mousey means like a cap but you can't add posts.

    I dunno.

I didn't think of that. A situation like your example isn't good for the competition. The only way I could think to work around it would be to have a maximum cap. Say 10%-15%?

My point was an exaggerated example, but it'd still hurt the competition if it happened on a small scale.

I'd probably lose interest if such a thing was introduced. No point in it.

Oh ok, my bad. I can see where your coming from. I don't support the idea either, just suggesting ideas. Activity and past performances should be the making of a great player imo.

There is just no way that such a system could be implemented. I still think my idea from 8 pages ago would be the best for evening out the comp. All new players play in a noob league for their first season and then a thte end of the season a draft is held with the players. The reason teams wouldn't sign players that didn't want to be there is because they'd just up and move after a season.
