No. A final should be one game.

If scheduling permitted, yes I would. You'd be much more likely to see the best team win.

Would you like Origin to be over one game?

No, but Origin is a different situation. It's a competition in itself, not the culmination of a competition.

3-game series just sounds gay for finals. Test series are a way different kettle of fish, ditto Origin.

As far as a series determining the "better" side, it really depends on what you consider tougher, winning under pressure in a single game, or showing consistency/form over several.

Yeah, I can kinda understand one match finals in real life as it's all about proving your worth on the day and overcoming the pressure/situation.
The sim doesn't account for this so you might just see a ridiculous upset for no reason at all, IMO with a 3 game series more often than not you're going to see the best team triumph.

If you want the best team to win why have a final at all?

no, leave it as 1 game

    One game final.

Not the question that the thread asks..

    50 game super series imo.

I think he's questioning the reasons people are providing for selecting that option, not the option itself.

    Thunderdome battle imo.

Well my reason was I think it increases the chances of having the best team win.
Obviously a 3 game series isn't the method with the greatest chance of having the best team win but it's the best method on offer.

Mousey's attitude is similar to those who don't want to use UDRS in cricket because it's not 100% perfect.. but it's still better than what we currently have. It's an improvement.

It's not like it'd be unheard of for an obviously weaker team to fluke 2 wins together. I'd more pissed if the shitter team got beat straight up and then fluked 2 wins in a row.

Far less likely to happen though

Once would be too many times.

Your opinion of it is that it is an improvement. My opinion is that it isn't.

As I said earlier, I like one game finals as they are interesting, you see teams put it all on the line for this one win. Obviously that isn't a part of CricSim - the spectacle - but if you went into a three match GF series as the second best team it wouldn't be as interesting. A single final keeps the competition mysterious, you never know who will win until the final ball is bowled.

I'm not saying that because it's not 100% perfect it shouldn't be introduced, I'm saying that it being imperfect is what's ideal. If you wanted perfection/near perfection you'd sim 50 games to erase any trace of random error.

No, your initial point is that if you wanted to remove upsets why have a final at all. To which I replied that because not having a final isn't an option.

I'd be all for the current Minor Premiership winners just being declared the champions. It's not even the case of the best team winning though and simming 50 games would be awful. Just IMO a 3 game series leaves less to randomness. If the outsiders won a 3 match series 3-0 then I'd say they deserved to win it, even if the other side was stronger on paper.
Winning a one off match can just be a fluke
