Honestly, how much better was extra time than the fucking field-goal-a-thon of golden point? Loved it.

Yeah it really was a nice change. I'd be happy with them scrapping golden point and having 10 minutes extra time for all games. Teams who made it to a draw deserve the right of reply.

    I liked it too.

Someone had to watch Morgan....with Oneils first. Opacic was just caught flat footed. Which he's been know to do.

Same as the 2nd Oneil try tbh, Milford was marking Morgan. Oneil spotted Alex Glenn (the backrower / centre) and knew he had him for speed. Simply went around him.

Morgan's try.... if anything, Milford stood too far outside Thaiday.

At some point you could argue that Milford should have made the decision to lay off Morgan and come in on Thurston, then there'd be criticism for leaving Morgan open if he made his run on the outside instead of coming in. Either way, it was a simple tackle that Thaiday couldn't make on a man half his size.

    Yep.

Indeed. With the speed of the modern game, the bigger 10m and the up and back style of footy these days, golden point just doesn't work imo. You throw 7 tackle restarts in and it's just fucked. It's way too easy to get in range.

Really bad loss. Everyone bags out Reed, but if he played last night Brisbane would have won. Opacic was on Coote level of shocker, his game last night basically puts a line through him for round 1 next year if there are no injuries.

I think he was playing hurt. That's why I kept saying the Cows need to go right - him and Milford. Opacic is better than what we saw last night I think.

Funny how the worst thing for the Broncos was Taumalolo getting charged for egging some cars. His offield dramas definitely played a part in that destructive performance imo.

Yeah you can tell it affected his form against Melbourne. Think he wanted to atone for that and he did alright. Can't wait to see him rip into the Cronulla pack.

Not what I'd consider calling a reportable offence however, which it must be to have the bunker refer it.

Shortall called it as soon as it happened. The penalty should've been blown straight away. I think you're grasping at straws here a little mate.

Jesus Christ you know you're struggling in defence when Lachlan fucking Coote breaks 8 tackles.

    DWTA

    This system for finals.

Share the points in normal season home and away matches. I'm still utterly confused as to why we need to break a deadlock when each team plays fucking 24 games.

FTR I am ok with this too. I just meant in comparison to golden point I would much rather prefer extra time than GP.

Yeah. Golden Point stinks plain and simple doesn't it.

It's like 'next goal wins' when it's getting a bit too dark at under 11s soccer training.

Yeah I don't know why there's a problem with draws in regular season.

Opacic doesn’t get caught flat footed he gets caught defending open space 5 metres either side of him through no fault of his own. When you look at the space O’Neill had to either side of Opacic to step back in our get on the outside, Opacic was no chance. This picture highlights in perfectly, Milford is about 5 metres off the goal post and he’s supposed to be your 3 in defender. I mean just look at that space between Opacic & Milford.

Was as simple as a right foot step into huge space, you can’t blame Opacic. Milford needed to be shouting for numbers and alerting his middles instead he was too interested in holding Thaiday’s hand. There's a back view replay that shows it perfectly in the highlights package https://youtu.be/Wr4akBRn2Io?t=9m49s

He wasn’t marking Morgan though, again he gets caught way too close to Thaiday and he’s facing in on Hess which gives Morgan his outside shoulder if he wants to scoot around him. That’s what gets Glenn interested and gives Morgan a simple draw and pass to O’Neill for his second. Glenn should’ve held off a little longer and gets found out a little defending out of his normal position but they’re both at fault.

Giving up your outside shoulder to Michael Morgan is suicide, no matter who you are. https://youtu.be/Wr4akBRn2Io?t=12m30s

I actually thought their spacing on that play was a little better, there was nothing on. Thurston just made it a one on one battle and showed up Thaiday for the fat slob he is. The irony being that Thaiday was a little worried that Milford had let Morgan drift too far outside him and was pointing at him.

I actually think a lot of the problem is Thaiday. Other second rowers can cover more ground laterally. He really stepped up in attack towards the end of the season but he doesn't fit modern defensive structures as a second rower. You're right that Milford is worried about having to make a one-on-one tackle, but most halves are and can still stand a bit wider because their inside player can cover more ground if they end up targeted.

Glenn and (especially) Opacic still should've done better one on one too IMO; shouldn't get beaten that cold by someone with only par footwork.

    Golden try tbh.
