last time lockyer kicked (consistently) was 2006 and then he only did it part time because Parker was a bench player, when i can be bothered ill look up his stats but i dont think they were very good.

He was good back in the day. Leading pointscorer in 98 or 2000. He wasn't ever great but he was a 70%er.

ALEX Glenn has vowed not to let Ivan Henjak down if the Broncos coach hands him a rare start in Brisbane's NRL clash with the New Zealand Warriors.

Henjak is set to play Glenn at left centre at Suncorp Stadium in one of a handful of changes in the aftermath of last Monday's shock loss to Canberra.

The crafty coach reaffirmed his intention to start Matt Gillett at lock in place of injured forward Corey Parker, but elsewhere he was keeping his plans under wraps.

"We could come up with a surprise tomorrow," Henjak said at yesterday's final training session at Red Hill.

"A couple of things we'll have a look at tomorrow. We'll see what sort of day it is.

"If there is one (change) there'll only be one."

That will almost certainly be Glenn replacing Gerard Beale at centre.

The former Brisbane under-20s captain trained on the left between Peter Wallace and Antonio Winterstein for much of last week and was there again yesterday.

Glenn played 26 matches in his debut season last year, with eight of those in the run-on side.

He has played just 71 minutes in two matches this season and is desperate for a chance to play the full 80.

"Ivan's got a plan and I'm not sure what it is," he said.

"If he put me in that position I'll go my hardest.

"I'm confident of covering (centre) if he puts me out there."

When pressed, Glenn all but gave up the switch.

"It looks like I might be starting out there (centre) this weekend," he said.

"I'm confident I can do that. I did it a couple of times last season. I have the confidence and the fitness is up there."

Henjak said either Darren Lockyer or Peter Wallace would take on the goalkicking against the Warriors, but fullback Corey Norman was another option.

Today's outing is a massive opportunity for Gillett.

Rated a future representative player by his former club boss, Mark Murray, Gillett has slotted into the NRL with ease.

He levelled Cowboys' forward Willie Mason several times in Round 1 and made some smart decisions while defending on the edge.

Henjak agreed with comparisons to former Manly, New South Wales and Test lock Nik Kosef.

"He's tall and gangly, got a good off-load in him and he's a good football player," Henjak said.

    "They're very similar."

Meanwhile, the Warriors completed their preparations with a light run at Langlands Park yesterday.

Warriors lock Micheal Luck said the visitors were braced for a Broncos onslaught with Brisbane coming off a loss to Canberra.

He said the 1pm kick-off would affect both sides, not just the Kiwis.

"They are a classy side and they have plenty of youthful enthusiasm, and sides like that don't tend to dwell on things for too long, so we are expecting a tough one," the Gatton-born backrower said.

"Both teams will feel it (the heat).

"In those conditions you have to make sure the other team does its fair share of work."

If he puts Glenn at center i hope he brings Sims onto the bench and doesn't just drop Beale back there.
