Don't really read as much poetry as I should, however I'm a big fan of E.E Cummings, this is my favourite of his:

anyone lived in a pretty how town
(with up so floating many bells down)
    spring summer autumn winter
he sang his didn't he danced his did

Women and men(both little and small)
cared for anyone not at all
they sowed their isn't they reaped their same
    sun moon stars rain

    children guessed(but only a few
and down they forgot as up they grew
    autumn winter spring summer)
that noone loved him more by more

when by now and tree by leaf
she laughed his joy she cried his grief
bird by snow and stir by still
anyone's any was all to her

    someones married their everyones
laughed their cryings and did their dance
    (sleep wake hope and then)they
said their nevers they slept their dream

    stars rain sun moon
(and only the snow can begin to explain
how children are apt to forget to remember
with up so floating many bells down)

one day anyone died i guess
(and noone stooped to kiss his face)
busy folk buried them side by side
little by little and was by was

all by all and deep by deep
and more by more they dream their sleep
noone and anyone earth by april
wish by spirit and if by yes.

Women and men(both dong and ding)
    summer autumn winter spring
reaped their sowing and went their came
    sun moon stars rain

There's a stake in your fat black heart
And the villagers never liked you.
They are dancing and stamping on you.
They always knew it was you.
Daddy, daddy, you bastard, I'm through.

This is a poem I wrote in year six about a carrot in a field that had a vegetarian lion living in it. The poem is from the carrots perspective and was written because we were reading a story about a vegetarian Lion.

    A lovely afternoon
    But, wait a sec?
    That Lions coming over here
with his eyes on my neck

    he must be confused
    He surely loves meat
    No way a measly carrot
    could taste quite as sweet

    He should be chasing Zebras
    And hunting in the wild
    A lion vs a carrot
is like a man vs a child

    He gathers up some pace
    and leaps at me now
How do I get out of this one?
    Lord I don't know how

    I'll miss my my friends
    I'll even miss the cattle
for I am about to fight
    my last losing battle

    thank you

    Are you happy now, Bush?
    Fuck you Bush!

There once was a woman from Sydney
Could take a dick up to her kidney
    'til a man from Quebec
Stuck it up to her neck
He had a big dick now didn't he?

    Mary had a little lamb
    Her father shot it dead
Now it goes to school with her
    Between two chunks of bread

    Thank you

There once was a man from Nantucket,
Who's dick was so long he could suck it,
    He said with a grin,
    Wiping cum from his chin,
If my nose were a cunt, I'd fuck it.

*clears throat* Allow me to contribute a rank amatuer piece I have written.

There was once a thread on cricsim,
for poets and all the soul within.
"Why oh why?" the mother cries,
"must I be the one to watch this fly?"

Well dear mother remember the golden rule,
any who hope for soul on cricsim is a deadset fool.
    We're lewd, we're smears, we're hate,
We are the downfall of every thread we make.

I know, I'm absolutely horrific at poetry. Why you would write a poem without having music to fit it to is beyond me. I can write short stories and stuff, but poetry is beyond me.
