Just wondering how much of his current wage will make up Merrins next year.

How do you think we'll fair without Sowie?

  2. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

Will Seggy be back next week? We really need Sowie back.

I'd assume so. It's only a lip injury. Should've taped it up like you do a cut on the head. Cunt doesn't need to talk.

Was Docker running around in reggies again on the weekend?

I tend to think Peachey is a better option at 5/8th than Cartwright too.

Did we play as poor as it sounded in the last two matches? I didn't get to see much of them.

    Yeah pretty much.

Kite is completely pointless, needs to go.

    Applied to 2014 too, IMHO.

Against the Roosters we just came up against a better side that were up for it early. They clocked off and it turned in to a bit of a scrap late, Idris was shown up a couple of times and the Roosters first try was a complete fail from Mansour (he killed it from there on though).

We were rubbish against Newcastle, their early tries were pathetic.

Since Sowards been gone we've lacked structure and composure, everyone seems to be playing as if we've got to score off every play. Our offloading hasn't been effective in the last two games as it was in the first two, against the dogs our smaller quicker forwards were making great inroads in the second phase stuff and we were just a step above the Titans. The Roosters and Knights have had better balance up the middle and so we've been offloading on the back of no real momentum, they really need to just punch at least two runs up and look for the quick play the ball. We won the offload count 17-5 against Roosters and 28-9 against the Knights and have come up with bugger all really, half the time it's an offload to Peachey/Brown/etc who crab across the field.

I've thought Kite's been carting it up quite well, defence is lacking though. The biggest positive has probably been Reagan Campbell Gillard, looks very willing. Elijah Taylors work rate in defence has been good and he finally took a bit of initiative in attack last week as well, really needs to involve himself more but I'm prepared to give him a bit of time given he's coming back from the knee.

The worst thing about Kite has been his work-rate. If you're only going to play ~30 minutes as part of the forward rotation then you should be busting a gut out there in high impact stints. He either needs to be used as more of a stock player or he needs to do more when he's out there.

I just do not agree with that at all, he's been busier than McKendry across similar minutes and his numbers stack up against the other middle third forwards, in attack at the very least.

    When's Plum back on deck?

  11. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

The other point on that is that Penrith use their wingers and Jamal more than most sides coming out of their own end. I bet if you broke the numbers down Kite is having a run at leafs 2 of every 3 sets that he's on the field for.

  12. Cribbage RG Cribb

I'm not just talking about attack.

In Round 1 he played more minutes than McKendry and made less runs and less tackles.
In Round 2 he played 10 minutes less than McKendry for 5 less runs and 1 more tackle.
In Round 3 he played the same amount of time as McKendry for 2 more runs and 10 less tackles.
In Round 4 he played he played 6 minutes longer than McKendry for 3 more runs and 1 less tackle.

I think McKendry is a bit different because he's more suited to playing a shorter, high intensity game in general.. but I don't think McKendry has really started the season well either.

Kite, when he was good, played long minutes. As he's got older and declined the bit, the wisdom has been to play him for less time.. and I just don't think he's really adapted to it. He still plays conserves himself like he's going to be playing 55 minutes up front. When you're only playing 30 you need either need everything you do to be of high intensity (which I believe is the most of McKendry and Campbell-Gillard) or you need to be really busy while you're out there and throw everything into your limited time. He's not offering either; he's just been pointless IMO.

Not only that, he is averaging about 7 metres a hitup which these days is absolutely atrocious.

It's not just Kite, that's every Penrith prop.

    Quick figures for all runs:

    McKendry: 40 runs @ 8.325m per run
    Kite: 40 runs @ 7.68m per run
    Latimore: 50 runs @ 7.7m per run
Campbell Gillard: 42 runs @ 8.43m per run

I'm not saying Kite is setting the world on fire, but I really don't think he's been the problem.

How reliable is nrlstats for the 'hit up' figures? would be a better indicator.

Kite made more tackles in round 1, those stats when compared to McKendry are pretty even afaic.

Both Kite and McKendry are going to have less hit ups though given the way Penrith use their wingers and Segeyaro. There'd be an average of 45~ runs taken every match between those 3, which (without closely) looking at other teams is substantially more than any other side.

Ideally I'd be using Kite off the bench at this stage of his career, but its hard when Plums been injured and we've fucked Grant off. It'd be great if we had a Tim Mannah type to use for that opening 20.

Really we should've just never let Weston go.

  17. Flack SA Flack

    Weston was average.

    Blasphemy.

    John apparently playing NSW Cup

I think our best option is leaving Moylan defending at fullback with he and Wallace playing first and second recover on both sides of the ruck, Peachey to 5/8th to just generally chime in wider.
