That sounds really good. Actually makes sense. In terms of pitches, it would be good, but keep it the same as FC ones. Or at most +/- 1 or 2.
Yeah, and its good to see that Cribb is making changes and not just sitting back and letting things roll along.
If anything I think having two identical pitches in both formats is less realistic. Pitches vary match to match and although ground have certain characteristics and such. There's nothing to say you couldn't play your OD match on the same pitch as your FC game, in which case after 5 days it'll be torn to pieces.
Still think (Wilson's?) idea of allowing +/-1 changes to pitches week on week is a good idea. That is fairly realistic in the groundsmen can slightly tweak their pitches week on week but not have a completely different one. Would probably be quite annoying to manage though, and I'm pretty sure Cribb said no in the past.
Not necessarily. The boundaries are usually made smaller for OD matches over here. Don't know what happens elsewhere though.
Yeah, it'd make gameplay better, but I'm not sure that it would add enough to make it worth the amount of extra effort required... Also, Fungus is right, ground size would have to remain the same. edit - I suppose Logan is right, they do bring in the boundaries for the shorter forms...
If you're gunna have OD home grounds IMO there'd have to be guidelines of only plus or minus 2 from your FC pitch. And not being able to make your ground any bigger than it currently is. As curators would certainly make the pitch different for a shorter match but really couldn't alter it that much.
Ground size can also be easily tweaked by bringing in or expanding the boundary lines, ad boards etc in real life. Should be allowed but not my much tbh.
IMO your first class boundary should be as big as it probably can be at your ground, you're not going to extend that for limited overs anyway so should have to be equal to or smaller than.
Gunnest idea. WD Crabb etc. etc. It says in the announcement new players have this random factor - is that new from now, or is it applied to everyone?
It'll be applied to everyone. It'll only be used in one day cricket though, and your random factor will never change. I won't know what the numbers are.
