I'm not saying this to piss NSW supporters off. But I still think Pearce will end up a Finch clone. He just doesn't seem to have the sheer natural talent that a world class halfback needs IMO.
People will always like Pearce more because his dad was an NSW and Australia legend, whereas Finch's dad is the head of the most incompetent refereeing orginisation in the world.
Yeah I can see that. He also doesn't seem to add his own ideas to the game and just regurgitates everything he's been told.. the amount of times he tries to step inside and run the ball to keep the defence guessing is stupid, and it's basically his only goto play.. it's great to be modest and accept the teaching of others, but if he's ever going to reach the next level he has to begin on his own way and convince himself he's better than all of those trying to teach him. And I don't see that in him, just listening to him talk and shit he seems like one of those 'respect your elders', 'have good morals', 'respect your competition' type kids... he could change his mindset in the next few years as he becomes an adult, but I don't see it happening.
I see the opposite the problem for Chris Sandow. Sandow has the off-the-top-of-his-head brilliance, and he can create something from anything, but he sometimes fails to just do the simple things correctly. Things like getting into a good position to get a kick through, and playing with a strict gameplan. Granted, I'm not sure JT has him playing to a plan. JT just tells Sutton to organise the team with Sandow being free to play with what's in front of him. Pearce is a lot more organised and structured, but also more predictable.
It is more that players deserve the spots more. In my team I wouldn't have Weyman/Poore (one of them), Creagh, and depending on how Cooper comes back from his injury. Also wouldn't have Galloway on the bench.
I would have Laffranchi, Hindmarsh and Gallen, but you will accuse me of bias, so lets agree to disagree I would love to see Creagh on the bench instead of Watmough though, can't stand Watmough.
Imo, you need a workaholic backrower who can tackle shitloads, and I think that is why Hindmarsh is needed. You have Watmough and Gallen for attack, and Laffranchi for all round goodness. Creagh and Watmough clash a bit with their styles, would be pointless having both.
