If this happens I will buy a Qld jersey.

Hopefully Gidley doesn't get injured for the first game like last season, so this has a chance of happening (last season they were going to use him at halfback with Bird at 5/8th IIRC).

Good team apart some of the Dragons bias. Oh, and Gidley on the bench.

Do you really think Wallace deserves it all that much more than Pearce? I don't think one deserves more than the other tbh and it will come down to from leading into SOO and City/Country. Until last Friday I probably would've agreed with you that Wallace should be half but he got shown up and not just marginally. As for 5/8 if it's anyone but Campese then its a joke.

Even if Wallace isn't the first halfback to be selected, he should always be ahead of Pearce. Pearce is major lolz in attack.

What did Wallace have to do with anything here? I didn't even mention him. Well if you want to go down that road then fine...

I think they both played fairly equal on Friday, if you honestly believe Pearce completely dominated Wallace then wow. Pearce was fairly average himself and has shown he struggles to organise the side properly, we've all seen what happens when NSW choose a half for origin who can't do that role properly before...

After reading M_F's posts I'm starting to be more in favour of Kimmorley if anyone.

    Just ask Karmichael

If you had have questioned his defence as of late your point may have made sense, that was just stupid.

Wallace has everything to do with it, in reality they're the only two competing for the spot. As for them playing equally  even I can admit Pearce is overrated by the media but fmd you must have been watching a different game.

  13. Old Mate M Perry

Admittingly I dind't get to tape the first half so I can't judge that again, but going by the second half and of what I can remember Pearce was also poor, he can display individual brilliance (his own try for example) but other than that he is fairly lolz.

  14. Magic AJ Parker

I'd say he has been really poor at producing individual brilliance in the past... if anything it's his downfall. As for the first half well he was the difference between us coping 6 points rather than 24, his long kicking game got us out of trouble so many times. As for being lolz I think that's crap, he's hyped up in the media but he's still a good halfback who just turned 20 which is still baby years for a halfback.

  15. AVA T Delonge

Yeah, exactly, it is still baby years, meaning that he will most likely play for NSW in the future, but I really disagree that he is ready atm. Wallace has to be the halfback imo.

  16. Old Mate M Perry

I think the individual brilliance thing is probably more true than not, it seems to me that he isn't the type of player that can follow a set plan properly (Probably because he is immature as a halfback still as you said) which is why I don't think he'd be great at origin, at least at the moment while Bellamy is coach seeing he wants his team to play out a very structured and well thought game plan.

I do agree the media builds him up far too much, but if you ask the majority of Roosters fans they believe the hype that surrounds him.

  17. Magic AJ Parker

In the end if they're level pegging based on performances and form then yeah I'd pick Wallace no doubt in the world. Only other player I can see getting a shot at halfback is Barrett and it's a long shot at that, I definatley wouldn't be one to argue with it though.

  18. AVA T Delonge

I think that Wallace was shown up on the weekend because Lockyer played quite a shit game as well on the most part, and I think that is Wallace's biggest weakness, not having someone to lessen the load. But if NSW actually pick correct in Campese, who playes quite a halfback role atm for Canberra and is quite good at relieving the load, I think that Wallace is probably better than Pearce on form this year.

That being said, Pearce has the potential to really develop and take the reins in the next few seasons. Under Freddy, who should be able to point out his weaknesses and make him improve, he should really mature in the next few seasons and improve immensely.

  19. AVA T Delonge

Oh, and I really think that Hindy has done enough to gain back his spot this year. Has been brilliant amongst a somewhat shitty Eels forward pack, has really proved he is still at his best.

  20. Old Mate M Perry

I think Wallace's weaknes is when he has somebody good outside of him who he will trust too much despite how poorly they're playing, last year when Lockyer was out Wallace was brilliant for us with Stagg at 5/8. Then in Origin he had Greg Bird next to him who wasn't firing himself but Wallace was still relying on him more than he should have so it pretty much kind of dies in the ass, the same thing happened last week and the week before but with Lockyer.

If he takes the reins more like he did in the opening rounds it shouldn't be a problem IMO.
