  2. Jimmy J Read

don't know if you're asking for others teams of the year and whatnot but i'm going to do mine anyway, same team basically but swap hoffman with merritt, swap carney with sutton, put george burgess in sam's spot, and take out merrin and put sam there.

    premiership faves - souths.
    most surprising - same.
    hayne awrd - same.
tautai award - not in terrible form but compared to what is expected of him - thurston.
stuart award (gun name btw, loved stuart when he played) not really sure.
rookie of the year - easily george burgess.

  3. Magic AJ Parker

I really can't stand him as a player but Jamal Idris has been ridiculously good so far this year, I have little doubt it'll be short lived but based purely on performances this year he'd be in my team.

    Premiership Favourites: Melbourne Storm

Most Surprising Team: Sydney Roosters/Penrith Panthers

Jarryd Hayne Award (Outstanding Player of the Year): Greg Inglis

Taulima Tautai Award (Spud of the Year): Mahe Fonua

Luke Stuart Award (Unsung Player of the Year): Nigel Plum

    Breakout Player: Albert Kelly

Rookie of the Year: Tohu Harris (pretty sure Burgess is ineligible)

  4. Jazz NC Smith

Yeah, post your own if you want.

  5. Cribbage RG Cribb

Carney is a much better player than Maloney but I do think Maloney has been better this year. Really haven't been that wrapped in Cronk's form in general either.

  6. Jazz NC Smith

Cronk has tailed off a bit but he started the year in great form.

  7. Julian BJ Taylor

yeah I don't agree with the halves at all.

I'd have cherry evans in a canter and not sure about the second half. probably sutton.

  8. BigGuns DA Astele

Carney hasn't been bad but he isn't setting the comp on fire, I'd go with Maloney. Jennings for Lyon. Plum is a great shout. Ran 200 odd against the Tigers this round.

  9. Julian BJ Taylor

    inglis
    McManus
    ferguson

hate having the Same but I do agree.

    sutton
    cherry evans

    fifita
    Farah
    woods
    papalii
    Mateo
    burgess

  11. Magic AJ Parker

I don't think Papalii has been that great this year, he's only run into some form in the last couple of weeks.

In saying that I genuinely can't think of a second rower outside of SBW who's really deserved to be there.

  12. Julian BJ Taylor

    Papalii has been brilliant

  13. Magic AJ Parker

Only for the past month or so though, he had a really slow start to the season.

  14. Cribbage RG Cribb

I can't agree with Magic at all here. I wasn't on the Papalii bandwagon as much as some of the blokes here until this year but I'm completely sold now; he's been great this year. In the games he didn't have a big impact on with his running or hard hitting defence, he did a lot of subtle ball playing before the line. I don't think it really came off as such until that game against Newcastle (which is probably when Magic started counting his excellent form) but it was only a matter of time given what he'd been doing all season. I was almost sold before then

SBW is a freak but Papalii is the archetype for the modern second rower; we'll hopefully be seeing more and more like him.

  15. Magic AJ Parker

Showing potential to blow a game open is one thing but actually doing it is another and that's what team of the years (or in this case mid-season) get picked on. Actual performances, this isn't about whether he has ability I have no doubt about that, pretty sure I started the bandwagon on here I love the bloke as a player but he was quiet to start the season.

    Same goes for Feleti Mateo.

  16. Cribbage RG Cribb

Mateo has been dire for most of this year IMO, but Papalii has been good. His performances were good early on; he wasn't busting a game open but he was doing the right things to create chances. Mateo was not.

  17. Jazz NC Smith

Yep, Mateo has been pretty awful along with the rest of the Warriors. I'm quite surprised that Julian had him in his team. I really enjoy watching Mateo and I think he is a top notch player but I don't plan on regularly expressing that opinion in 2013 for fear of ridicule. His play this year hasn't been anything like the consistent, quality play he displayed for most of 2011/2012.

  18. morgieb MC Burridge

Julian not having Williams indicates having a chip on his shoulder.

  19. BigGuns DA Astele

Mateo is always one game away from me loving or hating him.

  20. Wilson SB Wilson

Papalii is good but he's quite easily the most over-rated player on this forum.
