Impressive Statistical Performances

There are few players in the game who I admire more than Jamie Peacock and watching the Wire-Leeds game the other night reminded me why: at 35 years old - in what is probably his last season - JP still works harder than just about any player in the competition.

He ran his blood to water:

    193m, 2 offloads, 1 penalty, 51 tackles at 96% efficiency

I'm looking for other great performances based on statistics, which will obviously be skewed towards forwards. Either this year or previous seasons. Doesn't even have to be the greatest, just impressive.

First one that comes to mind is Steve Price.

    Round 21 vs. Sydney Roosters:

    323m from 27 runs, 1 offload, 27 tackles at 90% efficiency

  3. Cribbage RG Cribb

Matt Keating's negative yardage would've been impressive for its uniqueness alone but it got changed. :(

  4. Jazz NC Smith

I did have that in mind but I was going to save that for another thread commemorating less-than-impressive performances

    Terry Campese

4 tries, 10 goals, 3 try assists, 172 running metres, made a few line breaks and line break assists (not sure of exact numbers).

    Round 22 v Penrith 2008.

Could pretty much take any stats of his during that 2008 streak and they are impressive.

Round 22 v Knights at Shark Park 2002.

Of the 11 Tries the Sharks scored, Noddy scored 2 and had a hand in 6 others.

    He also kicked 10 goals.

    Plus he had hair.

    Justin Hodges:

Round 23 2006: Broncos lost to Melbourne 18-12 but Hodges managed 346m from 33 runs including 1 linebreak.

I don't actually recall the game specifically so I don't know whether that meterage actually translated into a thoroughly dominating performance (I kind of assume it didn't since the Broncos struggled to score) but so far that is the most ground covered by any player in a single game.

The only one who might break that is Brett Hodgson, who made a tonne of metres in a SOO a while ago.

    Found some more for Campese:

Round 23 v Knights 2008 1 try, 5 goals, ran for 103 metres, 3 line breaks and 6 tackle breaks, 4 try assists as well and racking up a 17 tackles.

    Round 20 v Titans 2008 3 try assists, 3 offloads, 2 line breaks, 7 goals, running 128 metres, 9 tackle breaks.

Jesus, Campese at the back half of 2008 was dominant.

Yeah that run of Campese's was equal with the Hayne plane in '09 as the best streak of form I've ever witnessed. White hot.

Yeah it was good, I'd rate it better than Hayne's run of form in 2009. Our side was atrocious with the amount of injuries and Campese just made it look so much better. I think even Tongue was playing at halfback at one stage.

    6. Mortimer
    7. Robson

    9. Keating

    Grand finalists.

  15. Wilson SB Wilson

    I remember that day.

Matthew Rieck. So fast but so shit.

  16. Benny BS Read

    Gallens game at 6

  17. Lukic L Popovic

Matthew Rieck was the best player on the playstation game. Fuark just get it to him. Have him sprint sideways all the way to the sideline and eventually there's enough of a gap between the winger and sideline to get through.

    Brett Hodgson:

On debut in Game 1 2002:

Set the record for running metres with 384m from 23 runs including 204m from 14 kick returns. Managed 1 try, 1 goal and 5 linebreaks.

  19. Alec AD Funkotron

Yet the Tallis tackle and the Lockyer intercept is what he'll be remembered for the most.

  20. Jazz NC Smith

Indeed. I couldn't actually find a decent sized image of Hodgson playing for NSW that didn't feature Tallis in it too.
