Then you're rounding too late in the process. Otherwise I'd have exactly the same problem in RUSim with position on field and metres gained in the commentary. I do recall this being an issue I had to deal with as the RNG always generates a number with the maximum possible decimal points.
Statistics I have decided to keep track of: Maximum drive Average drive Greens in regulation Average putts per hole Fairway hits Any others that you think are important?
This is basically done. I'm quite happy to start the sim as it is now, but I'll also be making changes over time.
No. :ninja: But probably yes. Especially if a sim doesn't give you any chance to get better (this doesn't yet, right?) it sucks being at the bottom and having no hope of even challenging for the top places.
At the end of the day there's a lot of randomisation involved. I think it's quite noticeable when people like Force are always doing so well, or Bots who has his bad rounds but can also go ridiculously nuts and go below -10 or something. More concerning for me however are the people on the other end, who always seem to do terribly. Even if the argument is made that the gap isn't that large now, people who do well get better and people who do badly get worse. This will further widen the gap. I will already be adjusting how form works, but that's only mitigating the effects it has, not eliminate it completely, not to mention the gap that exists before form is even considered. Currently the only way for players to improve is by doing well in tournaments. Obviously if we ever get post counts I can put that in and that may make this a non-issue but as of right now, I don't know if it's something that should be ignored.
Fair enough, was just wondering if randomisation has had more of an effect on Force and Bots performing well so far than anything else.
Everyone is assigned a random value when they register that'll determine how good they are. I'm wondering if the range in which these values are generated are too large. That said, I don't want GolfSim to be a complete lottery where everyone has a chance at doing well. I guess what I'm saying is I know for a fact that some people are better than others. I'm wondering if the difference between the best and worst players is at an acceptable level.
