Football World Draft (20 years)

I've always enjoy participating in a football draft and whenever I run a draft, it always finishes

Anyway, thinking of doing a football world draft for the past 20 years.

This means judging players from international, league and cup appearances from all countries and clubs worldwide. So pick players who perform well in all these competitions like World Cups, continents trophies such as Euro's, Copa America etc, Champions League/Europa League/UEFA Cup, domestic leagues like Premiership, La Liga, Serie A and domestic trophies like FA Cup etc is important...

So as you can gather, there is a large pool of players to choose from but a cap of picking players from the previous 20 years.

1. Teams will have a total of 12 players. The starting 11 and a manager

EDIT 2. Players must have played at least the 1992 season but now members must judge the players on their whole career!

3. There will be a time limit of 24 hrs to make a pick to speed up the process. if you join this you should be able to check the thread and pick at least once a day and ideally much more often. This is important to keep the speed of the draft!

4. You miss three rounds in a row, you're out of the draft.

5. There is no limit of players from one team, if you want to pick an all-star Man Utd/England/Germany/Real Madrid XI then that's fine.

6. They'll be no change of draft order either but reverse e.g. say there were three teams drafting, in odd rounds the order would be A, B, C then in the even rounds C, B, A (with team C picking twice in a row).

7. You can decide what formation to build your starting 11

Only put your name down if you intend to finish the draft. Pisses me off when people pick around four players then don't participate again.

Yeah, makes sense but you could have someone picking Maradona, who played until 1997, but nowhere near his best of his peak from 1982-1986 and people judging him on this instead of after 1992... I know that this is another obvious one but it'll be my main concern

I do like the cut off because it means we'll have more modern players where members have actually seen them play live with most of us being around 20-25ish.

 

I just think that could complex things to be honest.

I do understand your concern and if more members want this then I'll gladly change the rules

 

Might change it to this, will make it easier

But my main concern will be they'll be some top players making their debuts in 1991 and not be able to be picked, like Giggs

Glad to see 8 people so far, hoping to get a few more before tomorrow...

Even though Eds and prez has had concern about the 20 year cut off, I've decided to leave it as it is.
