Supposedly about to make Brandon Smith one of their marquee signings on 900k p/y I'm really torn on Smith because I love him as a player but geez I think he's overrated. I guess they're going to have to overspend one way of another to get a decant 17 within 12 months time.
I like to see Cam Smith on a one year come back, with the Dolphins which leads to a mass storm exodus by the other Queenslanders
1.4m is massive but I think you really struggle to fill your cap first season anyway given they’ve only been given 12months to recruit a side. If it was front loaded wouldn’t be the worst call IMO.
The way players can get out of contracts these days, I don't think they'll have issues filling their cap.
Problem is that they’ve missed out on the best players on the market. I’m not sure there’s really anyone worth over $500k that would join at this point.
I don't think they will have a problem landing someone who is contracted for 2024 and getting them a year early. There are always clubs trying to offload big players who they signed for overs.
It's kind of worked for Newy. If you can call barely scraping into the 8 for the last two seasons working.
It's a good strategy if you can sign cunts like Hodgson, Thompson, Lodge etc instead of guys like McCullough, Mbye, Bird, McGuire etc
Who are some of the depth guys off contract for 2023? I actually thought they would have had another couple signed by now
Farnworth, Isaako, Oates, Turpin, Elliot, Harawira-Naera, Hodgson, Horsburgh, Sutton, Dufty, Faitala-Mariner, Vaughan That's just from Broncos, Raiders and Bulldogs. There's fuckin shitloads available for 2023.
He is an NRL winger, he could possibly handle playing left centre. Just needs to realise he isn't a fullback.
