CricSim NRL Fantasy 2010 - Expressions of Interest

Basically, I'm looking at creating something pretty similar to NNRL for next year, just for a competition or two of CricSim members. Obviously the site itself wouldn't be anywhere near as good as the NNRL one we'd probably have to run at least some of it on the forum itself, but it'd let us implement a few different rules, test some things out and have another comp to follow besides the main focus which is the NNRL comp.

If there's enough interest I'll actually run it this year just on the forum without the website (I've actually got everything in place already to do that, including programs which automatically calculate DFs, total scores, draft orders etc) just to test out the rules and improve it before we run it properly, but I'll need at least 12 experienced NNRL players so they can compare, add suggestions etc. So I'm looking at the first division guys plus Hunter, AVA, Colesy etc to put their hands up. I obviously won't be able to have a team this season because it'd be a bit of an unfair advantage.

It'll run pretty much the same as NNRL, except..

    • Recruitment won't be bidding; it'll be done in a few speed drafts. You'll submit lists of players you want in order, then a program will generate a draft order and figure it all out based on your preferences.
    • 'Dominant players' will be scrapped, essentially replaced by playmakers (and only playmakers) getting points for try assists to ensure halves are adequately represented.
    • Dominant Forward calculations will be tweaked to take into account quality rather than just quantity - ie. more focus on metreage and efficiency, less focus on total hit-ups and tackles.
    • A few things like player positions etc will be slightly different.

I'll post up a full list of the rules if there's enough interest.

I should point out that this isn't meant to try and take over the NNRL comp at all; just add another comp with slightly different rules to add a different experience... especially this year as it's basically just a trial run.

    Yeah, I'd be in.

Interested to know who you consider playmakers as far as try assists go, could get a bit complicated with various locks, fullbacks and hookers.

Was just going to go with - four points if you name someone at half or five-eighth and they get a try assist, two points if you name someone at fullback or hooker and they get a try assist.

Yeah, sounds fair enough. Devalues someone like Mateo a bit though, because it'd be pretty rare for him to get through enough work to be a dominant forward.
