Viljoen WAS actually a pretty decent player who never got an extended run and left the game prematurely.
While Ebrahim was a shit **** I can see why they picked him for so long. Was steady, had a semblance of a decent technique, and got in behind it. Just has sfa shots and reminded me of a small under 16s kid who can't hit the ball off the square.
Yeah but Ebrahim and Nkala were shit ****s who only played so many games due to quotas. Nkala was actually a batting allrounder through all the age groups and had genuine talent as a batsman but he was so much of an underachieving shit **** that he averaged about 8 with the bat in all forms of cricket, even domestically. Bowled some terrible medium pace and got picked based on that instead. Ebrahim could block the ball if it was straight - he played away from his body really badly though so he was never a good defensive player, and whenever he tried to play a shot he closed the face of the bat because of his stupid bottom handed grip. If they wanted a defensive opening batsman with a good technique to see off the new pill they should've given Gripper a longer run. Viljoen was not that bad though.
