Shouldn't be allowed to be over the cap at all. If you're over the cap you must trade/waive to get under imo
Agreed, it's not hard to stick to under $100m when all the info was always there. If you can't afford anymore players either trade or no more players for you from the draft etc. Not everyone has to have 12 players, you can have more or less. There was just 12 draft rounds that's all. Heck I'm planning on having a squad of 13 - picking someone up from FA at some stage, maybe not right away but it's in the plans.
The salary cap is to stop a team with billions of dollars from signing 12 superstars. Most teams are happy to pay the luxury tax in real life.
And i feel as if big market teams should be allowed to do this, otherwise what is the point of the market sizes??? Like, we are all starting with the same cap if this goes 3 seasons then contracts and negotiations might play a part but i really can't see Eds writing a code that gives all the players a personality for what they want in a contract.
It'd be pretty easy to do something like that, ftr. Market size will matter straight from the off when people try and pick up free agents after the draft, and then again at free agency at the end of the season.
My teams set up to take advantage of that hence signing young players on rookie scale with the bird rights that will come with that also
