So the fact I'm not a CW member isn't going to impact me too badly?

No - it should be irrelevant. It only boosts about 8 players, and most of them are only boosted by the equivalent of a 1 - 12 posts.

With RUSim, there's a few dominant players in the top 40 post ranks, and then a really long tail where supposedly poor players based on post rank can stand out from the rest of the crowd; especially now that there will be a proper reserve grade.

    Oh ok, sweet I see.

Just to make sure I've got it correct, in RUsim, only posts in RUISim + CW count towards your proformances?

  4. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

    Nope.

    Posts that count:

    1. Seasonal Rugby forum posts
    2. Your club's subforum posts
    3. Posts in Seasonal Rugby threads in your Provincial subforum
    4. Posts in the Rugby Union Discussion Forum (found under 'Other Sports')
    5. Posts in 2 threads on CricketWeb.

    Ok sweet, thank you. :)

    Interesting.

I think Veez seems to think that any posts made on CW count. There are only two or three threads that count from there and they have fuck all posts in them.

Yeah I did think that at first, thought it was a little odd :p. Got it now though.

I can see why he'd think that. :troll:

There aren't that many posts we are getting counted from there anyway. I think I get an extra 140 or something. Somers and Brumby have the most with like 300 each. Most people have about 50 or so on CW so it doesn't make a massive difference.

To save you time in going back and forth to CW to calculate it which I agree must be a hassle - just freeze the points at the end of this season.
You can freeze them now if you like since they are not growing anyway.

Yeah, I'll freeze them at the end of the season at least, but they are also a pain as I can't add them to the post counts on here, so I have to adjust your post counts in the sim manually. It's a pain that I'd like to get rid of.

I've got no issues if that's the reason behind it. Anything that makes things easier for you is a plus in my book.

Why can't you just boost our post counts - given you were offering 50 point bonuses to people who signed up new members - it must be possible to boost post counts.

  15. Captain SSD Dong

Because as long as people keep posting in the CW threads he's going to have to do manual updates (in other words, boosts). That is, until he chooses to freeze it.

  16. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

It is possible, but also difficult. The other question is one of fairness - given that Crabs players can increase their post count in more ways than any other Cricsim poster (assuming it to be highly unlikely that a Cricsim poster will register for CW just to post in the RU Sim thread there).

what's the other thread on CW that counts? The rugby union thread?

@Captain - the proposal is to freeze and then add so it would be a one time boost and hassle for Heef. But I would wager it would be an investment in time because he would never have to play with cross web site calculations again.

@Heef - in terms of fairness - we are losing every game and we are currently counting those posts. So adding them permanently to our post counts is not going to make a hill of beans. We will only start to win in a couple of seasons from now if we keep posting like crazy on cricsim.

Cliff notes version: Our posts over there aren't material to cause an unfair advantage. But would cause us to be shittier if you took them away.

Also you only allowed two threads over there Heef. I made a million posts in the world cup thread and those didn't get counted and have made a bunch in the Super 15 thread and those won't get counted either.
The cricsim members have an advantage over me in that if they have something to say about Super 15 they will naturally come to cricsim and say it and get credit for it. If I go to CW and say it then I don't get credit.

If none of those arguments work for you - just consider the potential post boost as a small investment that brought over myself and a number of other CW members and that will ultimately benefit cricsim and the other other cricsim members.

Up the crabs, been backing them for weeks.

Which is exactly why they'll be phased out, not stopped at the drop of a hat. And your point about Rugby Union discussion is a valid one, but really if you want to talk RU, you should discuss it here where we have a dedicated Rugby Union subforum, as opposed to the occasional thread on CricketWeb with only a very small number of people interested.

You guys are doing fine. You're a new club, you were playing the occasional reserves game last season, and apart from getting demolished by the Spartans, you've fought well - and you're only going to get better not worse. I personally don't think you will need the additional CW post count support in the fullness of time.
