This week was a week for Openers and spinners. And as such has made this weeks TOTW and absoulte pain in the arse. 1. AM Farhat Farhat was the pick of the openers this week. His two innings of 147 and 51 respectivley against a Ravens attack was immense. Him and Azzal set the tone of a match where Cyclones were expected to lose. 2. S Bakkum The 2nd week in a row Bakkum has made the side he managed to capitalise on the poorness of the Puma openers he managed 171 runs in the game. 3. AJ O'Neil Like Farhat wasn't expected to do as well as he did vs the Ravens, he managed to hit a century in the first innings. The thing that seperates him from the other possible openers is his keeping. There were a few decent keepers this week but Azzal was the most impressive with the bat. 4. T Delonge WAC, two huge innings against the Gamblers gets him into the team this week. 95 and 129 the best individual batting performances of the week. Not a lot more to say. 5. S Verigotta A player who will probably become a common name in this throughout the season managed two half centuries and in the 2nd innings when Farhat was the only other player to stand up to the Ravens he got the crucial runs in the collapse of the 2nd innings which led to the clones win. 6. R Gee Embarrasingly walking into a team of the week side when in one of the innings he got a duck. But hes in none the less, without too much trouble from other middle orders he got 119 in his first innings 7. RG Cribb Shoving another opener in here, it would be a shame for Crobbert to miss out this week. 167 runs and some wickets that i've deleted from my little sheet so can't count them. Was a close call between the batting perrmance in an allrounder or a bowling performance and cribb edged it. 8. M Faithful Really probably didn't deserve to be in here, but the seam options this week were poor as fuck. Faithfuls got in essentially by not being a complete shitbag. 9. WC Welker Should just be called Team of the Welker. Took Popovic out twice, Gemmell, and pretty much cleaned the Gamblers up in the 2nd innings. While not getting as many wickets as some of the other possible spinners hes the only bowler with 7+ wickets that went for less than 100 runs. 10. SJ Cambridge Even though it was an overall shit week for seamers, Cambridge had the best bowling performance of the week, mainly coming from his first innings. Someone in raping Stickies shocker. But none the less, destroyed. 11. SB Wilson It was a tough call between Wilson and Ritchie, it came down to who took what wicket both took important ones over the course of the game but the double Flack set got Wilson his position. 8 Wickets at 23 1. AM Farhat 2. S Bakkum 3. AJ O'Neil + 4. T Delonge 5. S Verigotta 6. R Gee 7. RG Cribb 8. M Faithful 9. WC Welker 10. SJ Cambrige 11. SB Wilson Player of the week - AM Farhat This was a close call between Farhat, Delonge, Welker and Cambridge. But in the end it came down to the performance relative to the opposition and the result. Cambridge destryoed the Stickies. Delonge and Welker both did well in a win that was >450 runs obviously they played a part in that but compared to a 30 odd run win vs the Ravens with first innings points. Farhats performance came out tops TOTW total runs - 1207 TOTW total wickets - 34 Notable Mentions Inceh - Was next in line for the allrounder spot after Cribb. He didn't get anywhere near enough runs but did awesome with the ball McGrath - Another good opening performance, just unfortunatley not good enough to beat the others Ritchie/Taylor/Hunt/Hunt - All of them were in contention for a spinner role, and got edged out by excellent performances.
Given this is the Bannerman Shield team of the weak, one wouldn't think other competitions would count, no...
Good shit Goat, could be better but I like how you write it exactly as you would say it. Also, lol Storer
